Conte Has To Go

He’s not going to go now for goodness sakes, but if we part ways at the end of the season I won’t be sad.

I'd feel the same, left us space to go over your defence continually in the first half. You have to do something when you're getting overrun like that. Made no sense to me that a manager of his calibre would set up like that.

The maybe the decision should be taken out of his hands.

Remember we’re City’s “bogey team” and they’d hardly setting the world on fire at the moment either!

I don’t like sackings in the middle of the season, we’ll only end up with another Nuno.

100% agree, been saying this for months..... Sadly using some common sense and actually stating what's in front of your eyes makes you less of a supporter in the eyes of some on this forum.

I've been downbeat about Spurs both in terms of the ownership, impact of the stadium and now with Conte for longer than I care to remember, everything is playing out exactly as I said i would..... It was SO OBVIOUS !!!

I'm staggered some simply cannot see what's right in front of them.... The blinkered optimism of some Spurs supporters is staggering..

Wait till the end of the season, see what’s been achieved on AND off the pitch and take it from there.

No silly knee jerk reactions.

When last did a team win the league with a 2 man midfield?

City play with 3

Liverpool won with 3

Man U currently on form with 3

Arsenal top with 3

Newcastle best form with 3

CONTE won Serie A with 3 man midfield

So why the f**k does he think a 2 man midfield is the solution when he doesn't even have the personel? His stubbornness is not even rooted in fact.

So you lost a big game last night.

You're still through to the CL knockout stage. Still in the Cup. And still within touching distance of Top 4 with more than half the season left to play.

You lot should be worshipping the ground Conte walks on.

Dunno, and also what’s this weird philosophy of play badly/slowly first half, improve second half EVERY SINGLE GAME.

Bizarre.

as I said on the other post -

the biggest issue is Conte himself. He is supposed be this top manager/coach. I personally do not see any of it. He just bemoans the squad and team he has... yeah I get that and he is right too but a top coach is savy and clever enough to relaise that my system and tactics do not work and the players either do not like them or simply are not up to carrying them out consistantly.

So he should therefore have the skills and ability to change it try somthing different ...who knows it may actually work and for god sake start playing games from the off like you want to win those games.

Good article. I've been trying to say the same thing for quite some time now.

I think there's a common misconception that if you're anti-Conte then you must be pro-ENIC. That's just not true. It's perfectly possible to hate the owners for their lack of ambition whilst at the same time believing you have the wrong manager too. Even if we got that investment in from QSI, I'd still rather move to a front foot, progressive coach on a project.

We can't control when Levy sells. That could be years, decades even but we can change to a manager that fits in with the budgetary constraints of the owners currently in place. That has to be a Poch type, or even the man himself. Can't work out why so many are against the idea. He oversaw the greatest period at the club for about 40 years. He can work to a budget and he can make average players good and good players great. It's so painfully obvious to me.

Money or not, we need to turn the ship around.

Because he doesn't care..... If he cant get what he wants in terms of new players then his only skill set is to play as defensively as with the objective of trying not to lose (despite having a forward line of Kane, Kulu, Son and Richie who are left totally isolated most of the time)

The fact that donkey like PEH is a guaranteed starter tells you everything you need to know about Conte

100% this... Been saying it all season... Bored of it now

Oh, and the idea that you can suddenly turn a short term manager like Conte into a project man is just absurd. It's like getting in Neil Warnock and asking for tika-taka football. He's never done the long term project thing before so why get him in to do that if he has no pedigree. He's a man you get in to win you trophies when you can go out and buy anyone you want, like Jose. Otherwise it's a total waste of time. Both Jose and Conte have their skill-set but it isn't working on a budget at Spurs.

posted on 16/1/23

I previously gave Conte the benefit of the doubt regarding his contract situation and his comments about the squad's lack of quality etc. thinking that somehow this was a negotiating tactic to get the club to spend big in January and that he in turn would then sign a new contract.

I'm now getting the distinct feeling that he doesn't want to be at Spurs, but also doesn't want to be seen to quit again.

He's just seems to be playing out time and waiting to depart in the summer and our performances and results are going to continue to suffer as a result.

Yep... We won't get past Milan (Despite them being poor), We are now 5 points behind United in 4th (they have a game in hand), 14 behind Arsenal and everyone above and behind us is looking to make signings and move forward... we are just floundering about as per normal thanks to the gross mismanagement of our owners I(who are still being defended by some who think having the country's best stadium and training ground is some kind of victory... It's pathetic

Knee jerk reaction, Arsenal got lucky yesterday as their keeper rescued them. We can still win the CL. Biggest fault with Conte is that he needs to drop Dier though

Worst part about going out of all the cups is that, like last season, we'll probably see a major turnaround in form because we'll have longer to recover between each game. That will flatter Conte and make it appear as if he's finally creating something. It won't though. It'll be another false dawn when the games come thick and fast the following season.

The only reason he won the league at Chelsea is because a) he had Hazard bailing him out every single week and b) he had one game a week. Then there's the fact that the nearest challenger to him was Poch and Spurs. All of the other big teams were in a transitional period. He got very fortunate. He's a fraud. He comes in, increases the fitness and sometimes wins trophies early on as a consequence. Long term players burn out under him. They always have.
