Said in the movie thread - this is how you adapt something from the source material, ok it's probably massive having Druckman there, but this is clearly the last of us, and not the last of us after it's been chewed up by the Netflix woke brigade. Excellent first episode and as your wife pointed out you don't need the have played the game to fully understand everything. So far so good and am really looking forward to the rest and is a nice change watching an IP I love not being destroyed by awful Hollywood writers

Annoyingly sky are still in the 90s and we have to wait for 1 episode a week

I enjoyed it, but I heard that htey're scrapping the 'spores' in the show and replacing it with the tendrils within the infected

The spores was quite a major plot in the games, so I just hope we don't miss it

Makes sense - wasn't really that great a game mechanic, not so great having Pedro in a gas mask for 2 and a half episodes, would also get boring the 5th time they need to whip out a gas mask.......

Will be interesting to see the new law and how it works

Yes some sacrifices will have to be made. Like you say continually communicating dialogue through a gas mask would get very tiring for the viewer. But I must admit the spores do make more sense.

I watched it on the HBO Max app here in Portugal. Looks like it’s one episode a week which I’m cool with.

Looking forward to seeing Nick Offerman as Bill. He was a great character in the game and maybe the series will draw more out of his character’s back story.

Yeh loving how it's balancing so far perfectly making its own TV series (you don't need to have played the game to enjoy it) while being massively faithful to the game. Think this very much proves how well the game story is told and implmented in the game as basically that episode was the game!

Nothing to do with the show. But just heard the sad news that actress Annie Wersching, Who played Tess in The Last of Us, Has passed away at the age of 45.

She had been battling cancer for the last few years.

Having watched 3 episodes now, I have to say I think the girl playing Ellie is absolutely nailing it! I know some folk were questioning the casting as she doesn’t look much like the video game character, but I think she’s nailing the vibe so far!

I was one, wasn't actually the look for me, just felt she was ok in GoT, but you are correct - doing a stellar job.

And very sad news, another talented VO artist lost in a very short time.

Was a bit disappointed with the third episode to be honest. I spent the whole episode trying to work out if I had misremembered Bill and Frank's story in the game.

I liked that they gave you a backstory you didn't get from the characters in the game, but I was looking forward to watching Joel and Ellie have to navigate through Bill's traps and attracting infected.

I said I liked that they gave the characters backstories. I think that was needed. I just was a little disappointed that they decided to do away with meeting Bill in the end. I didn't think they needed to do that.

I said before it started, I would take someone who can act the part, over someone who simply looked the part. Bella is doing an outstanding job, and has so far nailed the part for me.

Also, would 100% suggest listening to the Podcast - a very good insight into why some changes were made etc
