I hope he delivers....Apparently Arteta rates him ! let's trust our manager. We did try to sign him in 2018 and 2020.

No harm is sending Lokonga on loan for rest of the season...hoping he improves.

I'm bot too optimistic about this one - not sure he suits our style of play, but he does at least add much needed depth.

Timing of Elneny's injury was unlucky, that left us with hardly any choices...I personally would take Caicedo over Rice in summer knowing we have CL to play for... (we will quality for CL unless some bizarre collapse happens ! which I doubt !).

Don't see how he provides any cover for Partey, if he gets injured we'll need to massively adjust how we play and that could be a major problem.

Zinchenko was mentioned as potentially being able to play in midfield, any chance he could provide that cover?

Jakub Kiwior can play there too.

He might be a bit slow for the way your CMs seem to play but he is experienced and good on the ball, you just never know till it happens and he plays a few games?

Is Partey injured, I saw he had a problem after the cup game and wondered if he was out injured now

At least you didn't give him a long contract.

1.5 years with the option of another. Smart.

Yeah that is something but seeing this as a massive positive reflects on the signing itself badly

I don't think it's great either but he's experienced, has won the title before, takes a good penalty and is better than Lokonga.

I think he will do okay and if not he won't be there long. A signing that will get slagged though

Not sure there are many who can provide a direct cover for Partey. Elneny couldn't, he was just a player who could play DM in our second XI.

Personally I'd have preferred to just stick with Lokonga and see how he fared if needed with our strongest team around him. I think he had the ability, physicality and athleticism to do that role and he might have grown into it if given a chance.

However Arteta seems him every day and obviously doesn't think so therefore we've landed on Jorginho to replace the injured Elneny and therefore, we might not see all that much of him.

1. Short term contract £10m + £2 add on
2. Experienced and will add some value
3. We did right thing by not upsetting Brighton further if we want Caicedo in summer
4. Def better than Lokonga and Elneny tbh

Arteta wanted him at City and at Arsenal in 2020...so he must know qualities in this player..

Lokonga doesn't know how to position himself, looks lazy and totally disoriented. Also, don't know where people get this that he is athletic, it's not like I've seen he wins duels often or outruns someone. He is solid on the ball tough.

If you can get him back to his best it’ll be a clever signing

He suffered from a rib injury and was subbed at HT against City. That was precaution and it turned out not to be serious thank god.

Edu is amateur, but guy from JA606 named Afc8919 is professional. LOL

Makes sense to me, clearly not being brought in as a starter but will offer much needed cover for Partey. He will also be a great experienced and calm head to bring on in those tight games where up by a goal and need to edge out a win.

Yes its a short term signing but one that I think is essential if we want seriously want to push for the title. The fact that we are only offering a year and half deal makes it relatively low risk too.
