Say what.

You do realise you can still only play 11.

Fecks sake the talent isn’t even out there.

Did I beat you to it?

I don't think anyone was racing to come up with that one

This ticks all the boxes.

A new stadium

Cleared debt

Using our income to be competitive NOT paying dividends

‘Shakira Law’ in Manchester

Little Englanders spitting blood on JA606 (nothing changes)

Great news!

Why would anyone want this type of owner after City?

posted on 8/2/23

Because the difference is they don’t have to door our accounts

With no debt and dividend we can compete with anyone on the planet for transfers

They have the money to build a state of the art stadium and training facility outside of FFP

If Qatar airlines wants to sponsor us for a lot of money it won’t be as stupidly obviously doped as a tin pot club like city suddenly being europes biggest commercial revenue generators

But also who else can buy either of our clubs at this point?

We’re worth so much the list of buyers is minimal. We aren’t Chelsea before Roman or Newcastle, City before UAE etc

These state funds or oligarchs have turned mid table clubs into the elite.

The obvious next step is them to fight over the real powerhouses.

It seems like it’s a choice between being an American “business” or a Gulf vanity project.

We’ve just done the American business project and yes we’ve spent a lot of our money, we’ve made them more wealthy and they’re about to cash their big bonus cheque.

We have a rotting stadium and a bunch of conflicted executives who don’t know if football or £ is king.

I’m all for being a vanity project for a while after this and I see absolutely no reason why we have to worry about fiscal doping given our revenues, fan base, commercial success etc is all organic.

Yeah the question marks about who the owners really are and their background sits heavy but you tell me anyone who can afford £6bn and I bet there’s plenty of skeletons

posted on 8/2/23

If they follow the rules and operate like other clubs then I don't have a problem with either or any club being owned by the oligarchs or sheikhs.

But I don't see how that will happen because it's like trusting a dog with your steak dinner. I am aware that just because one person cheats, doesn't mean the next person will cheat too, but on all occasions they've taken over a club, the same thing has happened. Look at PSG as well. Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results.

And knowing how they operate in a lot of their other dealings outside football l, which are usually shrouded in corruption and secrecy, then perhaps caution is required.

Sheik Tamim bin Hamad Al Thania barmy army?

Three wives
Thirteen children
Conservative views

And he’s got links to the Muslim Brotherhood which most governments declare as a terrorist organisation. Lovely.

United's renovated grounds going to be the bomb!

Not ideal. Hopefully our fans don't turn up at the ground wearing tea towels, waving flags and taking to Twitter to defend every non-football related criticism of them, like some Newcastle fans felt it was appropriate to do with the Saudis. Sadly, I'm sure there will be a minority that do, certainly the Twitter thing anyway

A lot of us don't.

The game is gone now. A lot of that down to Abramovich and City / PSG. The landscape has changed for good.

Is it still only the mail reporting this? Just the gossip page in BBC that’s all.

I'd rather see the Glazers bleed the club dry than have anything to do with Qatar and their backward thinking Ideologies.

Yeah well spotted, I was gonna ask the same question!
Interesting that he calls people “Tory kants” even when they’re not Tory supporters!

We shouldn’t be surprised when he posted this on the match thread!

“We’ve taken off our entire front three and replaced them with a fresh pair!”

Me too. This form of ownership has never trilled me. I hate the idea of being able to sign anyone we want. Also have no intention of defending any foolish countries of human rights crimes they most likely committed

If it’s not us it’ll be someone else. Far better for it to be us. Is nobody else sick of limiting our ambitions to a run at top four and an outside shot at a second-tier trophy season after season?

What exactly do you expect the Qataris to do to change that? Pump in billions from their cousins disguised as sponsors?

If this is the QSI then they already own PSG and could not own both.

They can own both but won't be able to play in the same European competition. They'd likely prioritise us over PSG

The Mail's rumour is that "a group of private, high-wealth individuals based in" Qatar will be making a bid.

So a collective outside of QSI.
