Should Marsch have been sacked?

100% yes.

Should he have been sacked last week

No

Should have been sacked end of last season

He was only taking us down. Whoever we get will be better.

My initial reaction was it was too soon, I thought he’d be given the 2 Man U games plus Everton and Southampton and then see where we stand. But looking back now, those defeats at Villa and Forest have really hurt, his demeanor on the sidelines looked desperate and perhaps he used up all his magic beans at the end of last season.

There’s only ever one good reason to sack a manager, that is self evidently to replace him with someone better.

You got it badly wrong last time but got away with it, remains to be seen if your luck will run out.

Nope, if what you have is worse than nothing then surely it’s a no brainer - 100% yes - he lost the dressing room and the fans - nothing more toxic than that is there

And then should have been sacked before World Cup. And many other occasions.

I think it’s clear the club had discussed things with Iraola before and he’s responded positively. Hence AR l’s stupid tweet. They clearly didn’t understand the full picture regarding the method of release though.

Well, he'd lost the fans for sure. But then you've got form for hounding decent managers out.

Yes.

Definitely.

100%.

Without a doubt.

For sure.

Unquestionably.

Aye.

My take:

Marsch should never have been appointed in the 1st place. As he was, he should have gone at the end of last season.

However, as the board seemed to support his every whim with players and coaching staff, during the January transfer window, it’s absolutely bizarre that the board would do that and then sack him so soon after.

In summary, it’s been a complete mess. Jesse was taking us down so something had to change. However, the incompetence of our board is breathtaking.

We’ll be very lucky to survive in the Prem this season. Two must win games coming up and I wish Skoobs all the very best trying to get the 6 points.

That’s true, but tbh so have most clubs.

IF we go down this year, it will be down to AR and the board.

AR is a sucker for business-speak; Marsch, like TC, talked a good shop but is way out of his depth, as the evidence shows - no wins in the PL since NOVEMBER 5th, FFS!

Did Marsch lose the dressing room? There was that weird denial, maybe a bit too fervent, that some senior players were grumbling.

It's exactly what I feared might happen last season when Bielsa was sacked, but at least, apparently, they had Marsch lined up already.

To be running without a head coach at this CRITICAL stage in our season is nothing short of criminal. Seems to me it was an impulsive, emotional decision to sack Marsch.

Skubala and co might buy us some time, heroically, and I REALLY hope that's the case, but this board do not deserve another chance.

We have made some fantastic progress under AR and we can thank him for that. The Bielsa years were certainly a wonderful gift. But, surely, after this disaster, now it's time for them to move on. Leeds are falling apart again.

This is the only correct answer

Thing is now the crap has finally hit the fan, is why did the club keep Marsch for so long, others would have gone much sooner!..

I'm for thinking the 49'ers had a say and they were for an American sailing the ship, it does seem strange how many Americans we now have at the club!..

49'ers come in we might end up with the whole US National side on our books!..

It might have been wrongly done, but just maybe AR and Co wanted to sort it earlier but tried to stay on the right side of the 49'ers!..

posted on 14/2/23

Just felt he was an incorrect fit for the club from the start, albeit by luck or design we stayed in the PL by a whisker- should have been let go in October at the latest.

Just seen that he’s joining Southampton

Crazy if he keeps them up and you go down. I think they’re doomed though tbh.

posted on 14/2/23

Fans wanted him gone. Don't thinknhe was as bad as people made out. Was thanks to him we signed Adams, McKennie and Wober. Would be total Leeds if Marsch kept Southampton up at our expense but I think they're in trouble tbh.

That's incredible, that he would take the Southampton job, that they would want him. Isn't football a results-driven business? Does Marsch really have expertise in avoiding the drop? We only avoided it with the last kick of the last game, ffs! Just incredible.

Nailed on that Southampton led by Jesse will now beat us at Elland Road.

posted on 14/2/23

No JM will not keep Southampton up but he may get them up next season so I'm not fussed about him being snapped up by a rival relegation candidate.

He is history and we move on and the rights and wrongs of where we are now and the consequences of such decision making by our heirarchy will be picked apart and discussed in great depth come May time when our fate is known and we say goodbye or good riddance to Radz & Co.

Until then I recommend we all get behind the team and whoever is in charge, we roar our heads off home and away as we mostly always do but for these final 16 games the level of encouragement needs to be a Spinal Tap eleven.... we can still do this starting Saturday.
