I'd have Lisandro Martinez on the United list. He has transformed both the aggression with which we defend and the incisiveness with which we can pass out from the back.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hmm, agree. I couldn't take this thread seriously not seeing his name on that list. If anything, I'd say he's one of the best CB if not the best in the league right now..

Is B10 an arsenal fan?
I ask because Ben White is above both CBs in his/ her (them) rankings yet Arteta feels the need to accommodate him out of position and Southgate didn’t see him fit to play for England.
Not a dog, genuine curiosity.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Southgate sent him home for something - shrouded in secrecy
you've literally left out chelseas best player
Varane is arguably a better defender than Licha but Licha is more important, especially to how EtH wants us to play and carrying the ball into midfield. I'd say Licha, Casemiro and Rashford are our most important/influential players right now. Bruno, Shaw and Eriksen also massively help the way EtH wants us to play.
I think martinez has actually been a bit poor last few games and had a needed rest.
Shaw has been excellent for me.
Across the season, for me, United's most important players have been:
1) Rashford
2) Martinez
3) Casemiro
4) Bruno
5) Varane
6) Shaw
Hard to separate some of them, partly because across those players standards have been high, and partly because it's been team performances rather than stand out individuals which have dragged United up the league.

Arguably our man of the match against Palace, had a decent game against Leeds at OT and was rested for the away game. Game before Palace he had nothing to do.

wtf
Players who the OP has listed that I do not think should be there.
White, Foden, Stones, Richarlison (no logic what so ever putting him there), Son has been well below par as well, James, Mount, Trent and Robertson.
No idea why he has put the two players who have just arrived at Chelsea either.
Zinchenko, Saka & Odegaard
Rodri, KDB, Haaland
Martinez, Casemiro, Rashford.
Pope, Trippier, Guimares.
Other top players outside the top 4
Salah, Kane, Hjojberg, Maddison, Rice, Reece James, Onana, Toney, Neves,
Thiago Silva is the best cb in the league.

was poor in the 2-2 I thought and was rested/dropped for the 2-0 the other day, came on late. Also thought he was struggling against palace once casemiro got sent off.
Still been a great signing. Just think hes still a bit rash at times.
Anyway VC my comments was more to highlight shaw stepping up, either at lb or cb hes been great
I think Martinez was dropped for tactical reasons to give Shaw another go at CB before he has to play there again at the Spotify Stadium.
Also thought he was struggling against palace once casemiro got sent off
…
No he was not struggling against Palace. No idea what you were watching.
And he was rested this week because he is not playing in Barca due to suspension, and the manager wanted to give Shaw a run out there.

Some players you dont need 3 games to make up your mind. Besides its not like I can reasonably put Sterling ahead of Felix

thought it was common sense by this stage. he's been phenomenal. Being the best cb in europe at this stage is ridiculous tbf.
Chelsea fan assessing Lisandro vs United fans assessing Thiago illustrates the limitations of what we can say about teams we don't watch as avidly. For me Martinez has had a transformational impact on United's defensive solidity and our ability to progress the ball up the pitch, and is easily one of our most important 2-3 players. I've always been impressed by Thiago Silva but I couldn't begin to reliably benchmark him against other CBs because I've watched him a fraction of the times I've watched my own team.
In addition, you need to consider roles within teams. Thiago is a classy user of the ball, but since arriving at Chelsea he has tended to play in a side with at least one DM who drops back to pick up the ball and initiate passing moves. After our failure to buy FDJ, Martinez has played in a system lacking that specialist deep lying playmaker (and also in front of a goalkeeper who is extremely uncomfortable with the ball at his feet) so he's operating in a system that puts more responsibility on him to break the lines, and on a system level is more liable to be stress tested than Chelsea's back six. That's not to make any comparative claims about the two defenders, but to say they would probably both look quite different if they swapped teams.
what utd fan has assessed Thiago? Well before you anyway.
and also I watch tonnes of utd so moot point. Probably 90% of their games this year. They're always on!
