decent half overall but for our dominance we haven't really got at the keeper. Cunha isn't a striker but much the same as we already had.

Would get a MF of for a Striker. Mout or Nunes who is hot and cold as ever.

Moutinho off and Costa or Jimenez on for me. Otherwise, probably the most dominant half of football I've seen from us.

Highlight of the half was that Traore touch. Outrageous.

We could do with getting someone sent off?

Bournemouth putting in a brilliant smash and grab second half. Been pretty impressive destroying the game second half, something we could do with learning sometimes.

Well today couldn’t have gone much worse really

Well that's frustrating. Kind of felt it was coming when we failed to score in the first half.

Bournemouth are our new Huddersfield...

Ah well, no biggy.

Bournemouth brilliant second half at killing that and Julen didn't get the subs right this time.

Disappointment evidential

Bloody frustrating, as Tam said it could have been different if we'd got the early goal that our dominance in possession deserved but the quality wasn't there, countless balls in to the box not a single one met by one of our players until Dawson got his nut on one in the last 10.

Losing patience with Nunes, there's talent there but you get the impression he's not come to Wolverhampton for the games against Bournemouth he's only here for the glory games, not that he actually produces much of value in them. Absolutely had our pants pulled down with him and Guedes.

Positives, Adama played well, any real attacking threat disappeared when he went off.

Cunha starting as the striker isn't working. Needs to be Costa or Raul up front

Cunha is not impressing me much at all so far.

Such a disappointment. Totally dominated the first half without seriously looking like scoring. Traore excellent in that half. After the break we never really got going. A half disjointed by the type of feigning injuries from Bournemouth we saw from Brentford last season. Not much a referee can do to stop it happening but pretty disgraceful stuff.

Nowhere near enough today from Cunha, Sarabia and Nunes but today the subs made us worse not better with Costa and Jimenez both looking well past their sell by date.

Kilman, Semedo and Traore the best of the Wolves but on this showing we still haven’t found the solution to a misfiring forward line. Dawson and Neves the only ones to test their keeper.

I actually think by the time Costa and then Raul came on we had thrown away any real shape or balance so it was hard for them to settle in. Should start with one of them instead. Should have dropped one of Mouts or Nunes as well and had maybe Podence in a 4-2-3-1

Subs were not great though. Ait-Nouri for Bueno seemed pretty pointless.

Clear win for Wolves on stats
Possession 69% to 31%
Shots 15 to 2
Corners 12 to 2

Yet we rarely looked like scoring

Would say this quietly because I know people already want a stand naming after him but I thought Gomes looked no where near ready, maybe unlucky to get booked for his first foul but after that went flying in to a couple of challenges that could've easily got him a second. Too many loose passes too.

Ref wasn't as bad that clown from last week but had a poor game I thought how they can't clamp down on the shathousing that ruins games for spectators is beyond me when it's so blatant. Linesmen too hadn't got a clue what was going on.

Agree with those comments, particularly re Cunha and, to a lesser extent, Nunes.

My team for the next match:
Sa
Semedo
Dawson
Kilman
Ait Nouri
Neves
Lemina
Moutinho
Traore
Jimenez
Podence or Sarabia

Only change I would make for the next game would be to recall Lemina instead of Moutinho. That’s largely the team that has got us good results in recent weeks and played Bournemouth off the park in the first half yesterday. No need to over react to a poor second half yesterday.

Certainly wouldn’t revert to Costa and Jimenez. Costa hasn’t scored or rarely looked like scoring since he’s been at the club and Raul hasn’t justified a starting place for most of the last 18 months. That would be abandoning what’s seen us climb from the relegation spots, and going back to the front line that took us to bottom of the table

At their best, surely one of the best front lines in the division?

Whilst I would definitely pick Lemina I would also include Moutinho over Nunes. Considering the wins over Liverpool and Sothampton, arhuably our 2 best performances this season, Moutinho played 135 minutes and Lemina 60.

Nunes played more than both of them - 160 minutes, but without, in my opinion, being as influential as either of the other two.

Certainly wouldn’t argue, wulfrun, that we need to see more from Sarabia, Cunha and Nunes. I’m just wary of moving away from a team that have been playing well since Lopetegui arrived including in the first half yesterday, and going back to a team that are more like the one that struggled in the first half of the season.

I can see an argument for playing Moutinho although I’m not sure he’s a 90 minute player any more. Just a call on whether you play him for the first hour or last half hour.

The last time a striker scored for Wolves was 10/3/2022. Can we go a whole year?

posted on 19/2/23

Until this club get an out and out striker, we're going to continue to struggle in front of goal. This summer I'd like to see Jimenez gone. Costa has been a waste of space since his arrival and thankfully his contract will be up at the end of the season.

I would have rather played one of our younger forwards instead of us wasting money on the ones we've bought. Cunha is not a central striker and it was such a shame we never saw what Sasa could have done.

I said before the game that Gomes wasn't up to speed yet, despite some on here wanting him to start. Moutinho still amazes me at his overall stamina and Neves yet again tries to get this team moving and was my MofM.

Very disappointed with the result, despite our dominance of possession, just highlighting the need to sort out the problem of a lack lustre forward line.

Nobody said Gomes was 100% up to speed yet. But many though he for 60 mins or so would be more useful than Moutinho or Nunes and it is hard to argue otherwise.
