It feel weird as we're normally deeper into the season by this time, there's still an awful lot of football to play.
Utd are going well but I suspect they'll be sucked back in, their fixture list is insane.
If Liverpool go out to Real and we have six forwards available once Diaz is back I reckon we may well make it. We'll outscored most.
Newcastle have fallen off a cliff - reckon they might finish 7th now.
I wouldn’t fully rule out Brighton either

Their form is pretty consistent to what it has been all season, draw loads. Had one run of wins before the WC.
Lots of teams have struggled following an appearance in the league Cup final though.
2 of those competitions could be out of the way for us by the weekend if we lose to Barça
I’d be very surprised if we made top four as I still don’t trust the team has made some miraculous turnaround for the god awful game in the weeks preceding Everton.
But we are the team most capable from anybody in the league other than City of stringing a ridiculous run of wins together so we could sneak it, but I still think we’ve some eye wateringly bad games to sit through.
Diaz being back will make a huge difference, we have missed him so much.
The only thing you can predict is it will be unpredictable.

Its not really a "big collapse" if you were to lose at Spurs and Liverpool, and thats the gap pretty much gone. For sure these teams need to have pretty faultless seasons from here on in but momentum can change. Rashford is responsible for much of your latest form so he needs to stay fit and in form.
I have said this before and will say it again. For whatever reason, the media continue to seem totally incapable of separating the difference between Liverpool of the last couple of years and the Liverpool of now, which to even the person with a basic knowledge of football is plain to see are not.
I get the natural bais and club loyalty that is always rife within the media, but even the bookies in their current prices, who normally see outcomes realistically and logically, based on facts / form and not because of who they grew up supporting, seem to going along with the Liverpool "well, they have been good in recent years" wave of optimism.
Obviously a sane person cannot really take anything Carragher when it involves Liverpool, but I did think he was at his classic excitable little boy best, talk like everyone loves Liverpool like he does, mode when during the Liverpool / Newcastle game, he comes out with "Newcastle's top 4 hopes being chased down by their ONLY rivals, Liverpool"
It was literally I case of him assuming Spurs, Fulham, Brighton and Brentford are simply invisible and just not there in the table.
I just find it really strange that a whole group of people, who should know a thing or two about football, continue to treat Liverpool like they are, and always have been at the level of the last two years, whilst us mug football fans are not getting it.
Well this mug footie fan can only see a team who is a million miles off where they were last year, have a suspect defense and not even close to the best strikers, have their fair share of difficult games to play, and are more than a little bit behind some of their non existent rivals.

Considering we lost one player last summer I’d say it’s pretty much the same team as last year and capable of the same type of form we showed last year.
We just haven’t shown it this year, doesn’t mean it’s not there only a fool things the team has suddenly forgotten how to play football despite an unbelievably frustrating season.

There are some differences though to last season, and even ignoring a 2 out of 3 new front line, the CM isnt firing and being found out a bit for being that bit older, less mobile, less able to press, VVD is not at his best and probably in decline (albeit from a very high level), Salah also isnt quite the player he was and his returns are way below previous years and that of many other players, on a par with Ollie Watkins this season. I know they have suffered injuries but even the likes of Jota, who has been out for a while, wasnt scoring before he got injured, dont think he's scored since last April.
Importantly they have lost that air of invincibility which means more teams are going at them rather than just hoping to contain what has been an unstoppable force. Even Newcastle opened them up at times with 10 men.

Indeed but Kane has always been a 20-30 goal a season guy. Rashford has been far less productive and far less consistent, more of a 1 in 3 goal scorer as opposed to Kane's 2 in 3 over 300 games.
Rashford is on amazing form right now and he'll need to keep it up because he is the one making the difference, scoring the opening goal or winner

You still have to win your games in hand, you could lose both, which means you would be still seven points behind. Also Spurs have not been at their best. What's to say they won't go on a run similar to last year.
I’ve said all season that I don’t think we will get top 4 and I haven’t changed my mind.
And maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad thing. Might focus ENICs minds (if they are still in charge by then) that we can’t muddle along and expect champions league football. Last season was a fluke in a way, only because Arsenal blew it last few games

"If we win out games in hand"
and you are still behind Spurs.
I expect it to be close but you cannot in one breath state "how awful we've [LFC] been this year" and then set out an expectation of achieving last seasons form in the run in.
There are reasons why you have been awful and it will take a lot more than wins against 10 men and a bottom 3 club (at home) to convince folk that LFC are back to 2022 form.

It wasnt a fluke. Our form was superb. P14 W10 L2 D2. Arsenal were only 4 points ahead of us and still had to play us at WHL. We were scoring for fun and defending way better than currently. I think in that run we generated a +30 goal diff. That is not fluke!

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it would take a big collapse for us to get sucked back into the top 4 at this stage. We have a lot of games but in reality other than going to Anfield our fixtures are not the most intimidating.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Its not really a "big collapse" if you were to lose at Spurs and Liverpool, and thats the gap pretty much gone.
