Chelsea would be desperate tosack Potter right now.

I don't think there is a manager out there who their owner thinks is capable of doing a job who is available right now.

Look at the state of them lol

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Seen some articles linking Jose, now that would be funny.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
One King for another King. Lane of Thrones with Daniel Levy as the Knight King. ENIC are coming.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I meant Chelsea btwrepugnant manager for a repugnant club
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lol damn! Yeah don't want him back either. Never go back!

Anyone know what the Odds are on Conte being at Spurs next Season ?.. Just curious
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure but the fact remains his position will be determined at the end of the season because he has a one year extension. This is fact. Poch and rest is just pure speculation

100% agree..... But that doesn't mean the club can't explore options if it becomes clear that that option is not likely to be exercised.... which is where we are right now. It would be neglectful of the club to wait until the end of the season to see whether Conte wants to continue. As you say.... at this point nobody knows but the club cannot be held hostage which is why they offered him a new contract (unsigned)

Just my opinion but I feel like it was a match made it hell from the start. Can't honestly see Conte breaking his habit of staying longer at the one club in his recent career that has no recent history of winning, doesn't spend like the competition and might be losing its best player this summer. We'll see

My worry is that the story could be true about Chelsea being interested but that Poch hasn't turned them down. If you're in football then you have your ear to the ground on stuff, even if it's not directly related to your club. If Poch had an agreement with Levy, Chelsea would know about it. Someone would know not to bother asking. If they've approached, it's probably because they think he's available.

I'm not overly bothered because if they're thinking of Poch, they're also ditching Potter and I'd be happy with either of those two taking over to be fair. At least one will be available.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would'nt be happy with Potter at all, I think it's clear he was good at Brighton because of all the people and teams around him, the structure and the way the club is running and pulling in one direction.

I think Potter is a big fish in a small pond, take him ot and he struggles.

Agreed.... He's out of his mind. Just Hope levy learned his lesson. Its such a joke that he honestly believes that hiring checkbook managers is the solution for Spurs when we have players who simply aren't good enough.

Granted the football would be a damn sight better but we could hire Pep and it would change nothing..... Like it or not, football is a "money game" either spend it or don't but stop trying to fleece the fans with this endless BS.

ENIC are a joke.... Charge a fortune for tickets (For a stadium nobody asked for), will want 6bln to be taken over, grossly over value players they are trying to sell (so they all end up on loan) coz they're crap and then plead poverty in the transfer window and b()gger around to such an extent it takes forever to integrate new players.

I'm not saying Poch is the perfect solution, but I can't help feeling he deserves a second chance. The football we played under him, in that team's pomp was some of the best ive seen in nearly 40 years of watching Spurs. Sure, the last year was painful, but he was saying the squad was gonna get stale 12 months earlier, and so it proved. I suspect it must have worn him down personally too !

A lot of people have given Kane a of of credit in recent weeks (His goals driving the team towards CL football during the Stadium building process).. I think Poch deserves some of that credit too.

Maybe I'm too sentimental but if the club are now in a position to really move forward then I can't think of anyone more than Poch that deserves some of the benefits from all his hard work during what was a truly transformative period for the club.

I hope both Poch & levy have both learned from their mistakes but Re Poch, he did a lot more right than he did wrong in very difficult circumstances

Well spotted. I did dig around online and that was all I could find. Just looked at the 18th of Feb and didn’t notice it was 2022. Blimey, probably can’t get odds now as it is that short.

It's not beyond the realms of possibility that this a false story Levy is pushing. It's a lot more palatable to sign someone that other clubs are rumoured to be sniffing around as it makes fans that much more grateful when he shows up at the door. It will turn the more ambivalent fans onto the idea of a Poch return. Just a thought.

I'm not so sure. He's well known for putting stuff out in the press to feed a narrative that someone should be sacked. Stands to reason he could do the same for someone being hired.

Surely for Poch to agree to become Spurs manager again he would need reassurances on the issues he cited, right before said issues came true and caused Spurs to slide down the table?

This would be a strange u-turn for Spurs considering they never addressed the issues Poch brought up, instead sacking him when this came true and proceeding to then give his predecessors hundreds of millions to spend. He would then be going back presumably without the hundreds of millions to spend, since it's already spent?

If these negotiations did take place I'd love to be a fly on the wall. I'd suggest Poch would make his demands clear and Levy would push the red button under his desk causing Poch to eject out of the stadium whilst shouting next.

This is one of the big reasons why I want him back.

Pochettino and Levy know either well. I would assume if he is coming back - after being asked - it will be on his terms. He also must look at the squad and think there has been new personnel, since his previous tenure that he could work with.

As others have said he steered the club through rather transformative years. And I for one, am excited as to what he could achieve with the club more stable and settled.

--------------------------

Conte has had about £225m spent on the team plus Lenglet, Damjuma and Kulu on loan. I dont think ENIC are pleading poverty, they're just not pretending to have bottomless pockets.

As for "the new stadium that no one asked for".....on the one hand you are blaming ENIC for pleading poverty and then you are being critical of the very thing that has increased our matchday revenue by about £80m a year and our commercial revenue by about £25m a year and has allowed us to spend way more on transfer and wages since it was completed compared to before.

Spurs are not "poor" because we're paying off the stadium, we're much better of because of it.

I can understand a lot of peoples criticisms of ENIC but in respect of the stadium , there is no argument for it being a bad thing.

As for Poch, i love the guy but i am not sure its ever good to return. He left for a reason. His form at the end of 18/19 and into 19/20 was shocking, about 1.1 pts per game over 24 games and while he definitely deserved a chance to turn it around, he had seemed to have run out of ideas about how to. We certainly have better means to back him if he comes, and if he does come i hope he is demanding of the ownership and not passive in respect of recruitment.

IF Poch comes back what happens to Titty and the DoF role? Does is get abadoned? Pretty sure Poch does not like working with one.

So then you have trust Levy lol, Everton's ex DoF who was hired last summer too and Poch to make the decisions on who signs players.

Doesn't look great does it?

I’d imagine Paratici will be off before long anyways. The investigation will last a while. Only my opinion, I could be wrong. I suppose it all hinges on Levy and his working relationship and just how much they value each other.

posted on 21/2/23

Ok say Titty goes and Posh is like "Hey Daniel, I do not want a DoF" then will anyone be happy that the current structure is shelved to please someone who wasted ALOT(say as Donald Trump) of money on McDombele and GLC?

posted on 21/2/23

I think the position of DoF stays.

If you consider that some of our later purchases under Poch were Sisokko, MDombele, GLC, Sess (he was probably a 'club buy' then i am not sure Poch has the track record to demand transfer autonomy and we certainly dont want Levy back in his more hands on football role.

Paraticci has been relatively sucessful and in Romero, Kulusevski, Bentancur, Forster, Bissouma, Perisic, Porro and hell, even Emerson, there have not been many clear flops...may be Gil hasnt not worked out yet, nor Richarlison

posted on 21/2/23

I hope I am wrong but I fear Porro could be a huge mistake.

posted on 21/2/23

Why are all the flops of Poch's time his purchases and all the successes the club's signings? I'm just curious about that because it's well documented that he wanted Fernandes and got given Lo Celso. He doesn't get any credit for Son, Toby, Dele etc.

Ndombele was also brilliant player at Lyon and he definitely showed flashes of it with us. It's always hard when a player just doesn't settle. No one could have seen that coming.

For what it's worth I think we should be keeping a DoF but get one in that shares the same philosophy as Poch and the club. Then it CAN work. Autonomy is not the way the modern game is and managers like Ferguson that control every aspect are long gone. Plus it's dangerous to do that. If all of your structure depends on one manager, you're screwed when they leave, as was evident when AF finally packed up at United. Poch will accept a deal with a DoF because he won't find a decent club out there that doesn't operate that way. The reason he probably had frustrations the first time around was because the club were buying cheap players instead of the right ones, not because he didn't have control.

Good or bad it's just such a braindead signing IMO. Spence could've probably played himself into form by the time he settles. Royal has. We could've actually sold Doherty. 45m and a chunk of the Edwards fee that could've gone on a CB

Will he though? Even if it does look what happened at PSG with Leonardo. Didn't work out...
