I don't think he's a mistake. I'm not sold on Royal. Two better performances won't change my mind. If you play roughly 60-70 games and you've performed well in just 2 or 3 then it's fair to say that this doesn't represent the mean performance. His ability will be somewhere in between. Porro is by far the better player as an attacking outlet and far more suited to the club, particularly the wingback role. I think he'll suit the dynamic role of a RB too. It's a lot easier to teach a player how to defend than it is to attack so he can be coached if his defensive abilities are in question. Remember, Walker and Trent have defensive slip ups. I'd rather concern myself with what they do at the other end than focusing on their defending. I think Poch will see it the same way, thank god.
That said, if Poch does come in, I can see Royal gone and Porro and Spence battling for the RB spot.

I get what you’re saying in some respects. I also really rate Porro. But if you’re talking about FBs and what they offer for comparison.
AWB is the best defensive RB in the PL especially 1v1.
Walker is next best defensively and his pace gets his teams out of all sorts of trouble. He offers more going forward than AWB.
Trent is the ultimate attacking RB. And is poor defensively.
This is why I rate Reece James as the best. As he is equally as good in attack as he is in defence.
Porro right now is a very poor mans Trent. He has to improve ALOT.

Why are all the flops of Poch's time his purchases and all the successes the club's signings? I'm just curious about that because it's well documented that he wanted Fernandes and got given Lo Celso. He doesn't get any credit for Son, Toby, Dele etc.
Ndombele was also brilliant player at Lyon and he definitely showed flashes of it with us. It's always hard when a player just doesn't settle. No one could have seen that coming.
For what it's worth I think we should be keeping a DoF but get one in that shares the same philosophy as Poch and the club. Then it CAN work. Autonomy is not the way the modern game is and managers like Ferguson that control every aspect are long gone. Plus it's dangerous to do that. If all of your structure depends on one manager, you're screwed when they leave, as was evident when AF finally packed up at United. Poch will accept a deal with a DoF because he won't find a decent club out there that doesn't operate that way. The reason he probably had frustrations the first time around was because the club were buying cheap players instead of the right ones, not because he didn't have control.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree with most of this. I'm not sure signings can be pinned on any manager. Anyone really think Potter is behind Chelsea's current spender bender ? GLC and NDombele are the 2 that get the most attention from Poch's time at Spurs.. neither are bad players, just looked ill suited to the PL. I think greater credit should be given to Poch for the improvement in Kane, Son, Eriksen, Dele, Dembele, Toby, Jan, Rose and Walker than the hits & misses in the transfer window.... I think he had a much bigger influence on player improvement and the way the team played Vs those who came in or left.
The landscape and the project is alot different now. Can't afford any more big money mistakes.
Porro was a waste of money. He aint going to get in over Emerson not in a month of Sundays.
Money could and should have been spent on a CB.
And if Poch comes back, I shall leave this board forever. I wouldn`t be able to stand the arr... licking of Poch, even when Spurs sit like 12th in the table.
Bringing back Pochettino would be the biggest ever blunder by Levy, and it would all end in tears after just one season. Average manager that no other big club wants.
And if Poch comes back, I shall leave this board forever.
The stakes just got bigger. How many times have you left and come back?
I can't understand why anyone wouldn't want one of our most successful managers in recent times back.
Remember before him we might sneak the odd 4th place, he made us regulars. I don't buy this 'he's not a winner BS' we've had 'winners' and they have won diddly squat.
Come back Poch all is forgiven
