One thing to pay attention to is that the flurry of statements by journalists and photos of Poch in London are not by accident. They’re by design. Stories like these are usually put out to swing the undecided. We’ve seen a lot of pro-Poch stuff coming out at the same time as those criticising Conte. The new one tonight is that Conte turned down the chance to sign Maddison. All of that feeds into the idea that he’s hopeless and should be moved on. Levy has most definitely pushed the button on the pre-sacking PR moves. I’ll be amazed now if it’s not Conte gone and Poch coming home. The only spanner in the works is that I’m not completely convinced that the Madrid job isn’t available in the summer. If it’s a straight fight out, we lose. The only way to get him is to pounce first.

Not sure about that. Conte wants to go home. I think the front runners for the Real job are Poch, Tuchel and Raul. For what it’s worth, I don’t think the Madrid gig would be right for Poch. After PSG he needs to align himself to a club that will give him time to rebuild his reputation.

What ending?
There is no end to this......as I said elsewhere......
The problem with Pochettino is that he puts up with Levy & ENIC.
If he doesn't change and start making demands and calling the shots, especially in selecting incoming players (of which there will be plenty because there will be plenty outgoing), then you all will be destined to "more of the same".
I can tell you all now...... Kane won't be staying,
Romero wont be staying...
anyone else who's worth keeping won't be staying!
So it won't just be Pochettino...but a whole new squad as well.
GOOD DAMNED LUCK with THAT!

Nothing to say Romero will be more than happy to play for Poch. The squad will be freshened up.
I agree on Kane though. Poch is on record as saying he had to oversee the end times of Raul Tamudo from Espanyol. Saying it was right for the club. Whether he would prefer to keep Kane or cash in would be debatable. Personally I don’t think the club should let Kane go anywhere.

Oh cheer up.
I think people need to apply a little bit more rational thought to how Spurs have spent over the years.
We have spent about £250m on Conte's squad and thats added to the £25m signing of Emerson and Deki on loan, plus Lenglet, Perisic, Danjuma on loan, all making big contributions to the squad.
It is notable that last season Spurs recorded a £50m loss.
The accusation that Spurs do not spend is false. YES, they only spend what they have, and YES they will not stock the squad like Chelsea with 30 first team players and hope to sell 10 of them down the line, but they do spend. More than Liverpool, more than Arsenal in recent years.
Poch was backed in the same way, on what we could afford. His and our bad luck was that his peak coincided with the stadium build where spending was limited. That zero spend season did for us. Partially the Boards fault, partially Poch's as he declined to buy, preferring to save his money for the next summer.
Our changed spending power is stark when comparing the pre-new stadium and post-new stadium world.
In his first 5 years, 2014 - 2019, Poch's spending totalled 323m Euro, which was a net spend of about 32m.
In his last season 2019/20 and the first with the new stadium the spending climbed - £150m (Net £86m). In subsequent years and despite covid it stayed high, 110m (net 97m), 95m (net 62m) and then 275m spent (Net £200m) over the last 2 seasons.
to group this into pre and post Stadium, its 323m (net 32m) in the 4 years upto 2019, and then 630m (435m net) since.
It is night and day and yet some choose to ignore the facts.
Poch oversaw a lot of change at the club, there were some superbly shrewd purchases (Dier, Dele, Aldi, Son and plenty more) all of whom formed a key part of our success under him while we were also able to achieve sales to keep the net spend low as we went into the period of the stadium build.
Imagine what Poch could do with a gross spend of almost double what he had before, and a net spend out of sight from what he had to play with.
The idea that if Poch comes Levy doesnt back him is false. The idea that Conte has not been backed is false. The idea that Spurs do not spend is false.
People need to update their rhetoric

We've just had Jose and now Conte - two managers famed for making huge financial demands of owners. It hasn't worked has it. So why waste our time getting someone in to put pressure on the ownership to spend if the two master craftsman of the art couldn't manage it. It's far better to get someone in like Poch, who at least has proved he can build teams on a budget.
I'm so sick of people saying certain managers aren't right because they're 'yes' men. Where have the 'no' men got us? Seriously?
Also, and this is another point I'm tired of drilling home, we HAVE spent money. Similar amounts to Arsenal who now sit top of the tree, but we've spent it really, really badly over the last few years. There's a difference. This is what happens when you have a club philosophy that doesn't match the manager you choose.
Kane will be going regardless of who comes in. That's pretty much guaranteed. Romero will love working under his countrymen because he'll have the freedom to come out of defence just as JV used to. Everything you've said that criticises Poch is untrue. Everything.

Read it again Billy. He said recent years, meaning post stadium. Most of the players you've listed were signed prior to 2019.
It's logical that when you have a stadium to pay for, transfer spending will dip. That's why Poch had it hard for those first few years. Things have changed a little since then. We've got a long term fixed interest rate repayment plan that means most of the funds generated from the stadium can go into recruitment, and it has. That's his point.
You post nothing on here but anti-ENIC bleating and I'm not sure it's entirely justified. Yes, it's frustrating when he doesn't play fantasy football with endless funds like Chelsea do but there are probably only a handful of clubs in the world that operate like that. The rest have to manage their costs, just as Liverpool do and just as Arsenal do. If we were signing the right players who flourished we wouldn't be hearing a peep from you. It's about how it's spent, not how much.
Think the squad is almost set up perfect for Poch and I think he will give everyone a fresh chance, even the players out on loan.
When we had Walker and Rose he had Dier playing DM do when we were attacking he would drop back and cover them 2, so it would give freedom to Porro and Udogie.
I think Poch would give a fresh start to all players in pre-season and then decide who he wants gone. Though I do think Reggie will be in the squad next season and Sessegnon will be gone.
Posters like Billy are not only blind to the facts, they are also blind to my plentiful criticism of Levy/ENIC and would rather polarise my position as a Levy Fanboy.
ENIC and Levy have done plenty wrong in their time, but not spending is now not one of them.
Indeed, many of the other criticisms of them are being addressed and you can see that in how our transfer business have been far more successful since the appointment of Paraticci.
The way we get deals done is still painful and inevitably costs us as we try to negotiate every deal to death.
And we need to get deals out of the club done much better, but having said that its a tough market out there where most European clubs are skint and selling slackers like NDombele on his stupid wages is impossible.
And if you want a comparison with Liverpool, since they beat us in the UCL and since our stadium opened, they have a gross spend of 319m and net 147m. That compares to our +600m gross and +400m net.

Ironically, it'll be the two players that defined his era, Kane and Son, that would ultimately let down his system, should they both stay (Kane defo won't). Otherwise he'll have two lads in their 30s expected to implement a high pressing game.
It also remains to be seen how effective Spence, Porro or Udogie are at playing full back. It's a different role to wing back.

No, he’s a Levy ball licker And always has been. Billy is just calling him out for it. I want you to answer me this question Fridgeboy. If Spurs have spent plenty on players of recent like you said, why in the hell have we stunk out the FA cup for 6 seasons running with the same defence (Dier, Sanchez, Davies) ? All 3 playing in all 6 seasons we got knocked out. Why haven’t the board rectified that defence? He has an Anti Levy / Enic stance for a reason. All you ever bleep on about is Conte.
I do worry about a return of Poch.
I love the guy, a legend for how he picked us up, gave us hope and respect. I went to a UCL final FFS. No Spurs fans before or since can say they did this!
I am just not convinced by managers returning. He did not set the world alight at PSG and has not worked since.
His last 6 months, straddling the 2018 and 19 seasons , where shocking, aside from the UCL final. The form for about 24 games either side of the final was awful. We struggled to break teams down, it was not a good watch or successful and he could do nothing to change it. The lack of new players contributed 100% and he did not get the chance to get the new ones fully integrated but the form was very bad and didnt look like changing.
If he returned I would be delighted, but it would not be a golden ticket to trophies.
He defo has unfinished business though.

Hunch
Conte to Real and Poch to Spurs in summer?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure about that.
