When gammons moan about the 'woke BBC' all they really mean is 'not Fascist enough for my liking'.

It all started with Valerie Singleton and 'sticky backed plastic'

There should be a Red Peter as well, for balance

Can't even be racist in my own country these days etc. Barry does it better
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why is it only Tory cᴜnts take offence to the term? Is cᴜnts misogynistic, by the way?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Could be. Pat Sharp got sacked the other day for saying he wouldn't be getting on a woman's t1ts. Apparently it was a sexual reference, even though anybody who's ever heard the term would know otherwise. Really gets on my t1ts

Whilst there’s little doubt that in the last few years the BBC has become somewhat more overtly captured by Conservative voices & associated figures, this strand of bias in coverage in something of a red herring.

The BBC is a fundamental apparatus of the state. As a media organ it is critically dependent on privileged access to state & private sector sources, and its senior board are comprised of a rolling cast of figures from big finance and so on.

The BBC’s well-studied, documented & analysed news output shows little difference to the rest of the corporate media - in fact it’s often worse. It displays near enough the same systemic biases as the other for-profit print & broadcast media. I’ve detailed this numerous times over the years on this very forum.

Is this a criticism? Not sure what you mean by 'big finance' but yes, 3/17 board members have background in the financial sector. Dwarfed by those representing media or 'the arts' which imho are over-represented and hark to something the BBC perhaps aspired to be in its distant past?

As the financial sector is 8-12% (depending on source) of UK GDP is that such a misrepresentation? And in any case is it so bad versus the NED job spec? Explain.

'and so on' .....yeah..., what...?

I think it’s obvious that the point is that when the senior board is filled with Conservative figures that the BBC will end up being a reflection of that.

Think you are being harsh? 2/7 NEDs are absolutely left wingers, 1/7 probably right given he was employed by a tory government. The others don't know but heavily arts background are usually lefties - broad brush stroke I know but I think you are way off?

BK was making the point. But Richard Sharp and Tim Davie are two of the most prominent people at the BBC are are Tories that were appointed by the government. There’s really no defence against the accusations of the BBC as a Conservative institution.

Media Bias - which I think is pretty good for this sort of thing - rates the BBC as 'left-center biased based on story selection that slightly favors the left'.

Even with today's shenanigans I can see that. Sadly it sometimes seems that the BBC manages to alienate both the right and the left in equal measure

Their presentation of domestic affairs and Britain’s foreign policy would suggest otherwise. But the most blatant is how they cover the Royal family. I understand why, they need present the Royal family as an institution of value to the British public, but that’s very much a conservative position.
