Very attacking lineup, which I don't necessarily disapprove of. Can only think there is no Fred or McT due to the fact they'd keep giving away needless free kicks to allow JWP a free shot at goal.

Good point. However Bruno in a deeper role could cause the same issue.

Casemiro isn’t adverse to giving away frees in dodgy areas either but I’m hopeful he has the intelligence not to today.

This is true

Hopefully Bruno uses the same intelligence on the ball as he did on Thursday. It doesn’t have to be the riskiest pass all of the time.

Why are playing Bruno in CM?

Risky line up but could prove for a very entertaining game. Have to assume that any PL side wherever they are in the league are good enough to take advantage of a side playing only one proper CM. So we could lose control for spells of the game imo.

Atmosphere around the groups is pretty good to say we lost 7-0 last time out in the league!

He played some very good passes through the lines from deep positions in that second half on Thursday. I think that must have influenced ETH in his selection today

Amazing how far ETH goes to accommodate Weghorst, where Fred in place of him would have been the sensible lineup.

I can see Weghorst go on a run though, doesn't mean he's any good, just means our attack is getting better at producing chances

Watching Weghorst run is like watching him on a slo-mo action replay.

I’d like to see more from Sancho today. He’s been good off the bench since his return but has offered very little when starting games.

Admins can you delete that lineup and put some proper midfielders in cheers

I’ve always felt he could at least do a job in that role against lesser sides as long as he simplifies it when in possession.

I see him as the sweeper-keeper we need to replace De Gea.

Ten Hag on James Ward-Prowse's free-kicks: "It's always a problem when you play against Ward-Prowse. You shouldn't give him easy free-kicks because he has the ability to score. We have a good goalkeeper, but you shouldn't take that risk."

So that confirms that Fred is almost certainly benched for the reason I suggested earlier

Hope I am wrong but I think ETH is overthinking his tactics here. He did it last week as well.
