It’s good news for me.
Effectively ending the independence conversation
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What if England becomes even worse? Very hard to imagine I know but if they go even further to shiiiit and we are still appended to them, do we just not have the conversation just cos they got Nicola removed?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
England could come up to Scotland and schiete on everyone's living room carpet, set fire to the houses and tax the Scottish populace to death. All of this still won't matter to some - they will never agree to Scottish independence.
Mental eh?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
People will agree to vote for whatever suits their situation best. There's no shame in that, its part of why people fought so hard for a vote.
The reality is if Independence makes a better case for a prosperous future it would receive more support. The fact it hasn't is more damning on the politicians and those championing it than the Scottish people.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If only that we true, it would mean everyone was intelligent.
Some will never vote for Scottish independence, even if that independence means they end up with more money and prospects.

To an extent, that’s true. However, I’m sure I read that we’re the only country to have not voted for independence when we’ve had the opportunity-and it’s also a reflection on a section of Scotland who vote because of the historical ‘values’ of their football team.

Ah I wondered how long it would take before football was attributed to the No vote.
Nothing to do with football unless you take the view of stereotyping mass groups of people. I'm a Rangers season ticket holder who voted yes. My Dad was an SNP member who has followed Rangers all his days. Similar position for many of my friends who I go to the games with.
I wouldn't vote yes now however and neither would many of those people. Their football team has remained the same, their views have not.
And btw even if you take the football thing as fact. There are how many % of people who support Rangers vs the size of our population? Maybe instead the yes movement just hasn't been very convincing.

Extremist fanatics have a significant input to elections all over the world and there's a sizeable number of Rangers supporters in that category.
As for Celtic fans, yes you're correct. I didn't mention them because it wasn't really relevant to the point being made. We'll done you though for not letting that slip past.

That’s another silly comment. Smid makes a fair point about the independence movement not making a good enough case for independence.
It doesn’t mean the previous point isn’t valid, and irrespective of arguments, there are people who vote no purely because of their team.
Two undeniable facts, if it wasn't for Rangers then there wouldn't be a majority unionist support in Scotland. The other one is that if it wasn't for Braveheart then independence would stand no chance anyway.
You can pretty much pinpoint the exact moment in 1995 when everything was decided. Braveheart came out and at the same time, a generation decided to support Rangers. Mel Gibson for one lot and Ally McCoist for the other side. There is nothing much we can do about it now. You can't just unsee a film, or kill a football club and get everyone to support a new one.

Great comeback…got fck all to do with the flag, saying that though, plenty of the countries that have gained independence still have that wee flag in some way…so you might have a point
Ireland are the only country, which is part of the British Isles (ie in very close proximity to what is now the UK), that have gained independence from Britain/Uk
So for all the 65 countries you’ve spoken about, including wee Caribbean island countries that are about as British as the moon….the reality is, 3 countries in the British Isles have asked the independence question….and only one has answered yes

There are people for whom Rangers, the Union and the Royal Family are inextricably linked.
Are you actually denying that?

I think taking what I said, and extrapolating it to mean every rangers fan doesn’t support independence, and/or that everyone who doesn’t support independence is a rangers fan is extremely defensive and denying what I’ve said to be true.

And btw even if you take the football thing as fact. There are how many % of people who support Rangers vs the size of our population? Maybe instead the yes movement just hasn't been very convincing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
To an extent, that’s true. However, I’m sure I read that we’re the only country to have not voted for independence when we’ve had the opportunity-and it’s also a reflection on a section of Scotland who vote because of the historical ‘values’ of their football team.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Only country not to have voted for independence when given the choice? Ahem.
