A total of 65 countries have claimed their independence from British Empire or The United Kingdom.
Only two countries have voted against independence;
Scotland and Northern Ireland.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That’ll be two of the countries that make up the UK, which might have quite a MASSIVE influence on why said vote was no?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's the flag, isn't it? I've heard lots of people in Norn Irn and Scotland just love that little flag.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Great comeback…got fck all to do with the flag, saying that though, plenty of the countries that have gained independence still have that wee flag in some way…so you might have a point
Ireland are the only country, which is part of the British Isles (ie in very close proximity to what is now the UK), that have gained independence from Britain/Uk
So for all the 65 countries you’ve spoken about, including wee Caribbean island countries that are about as British as the moon….the reality is, 3 countries in the British Isles have asked the independence question….and only one has answered yes
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's cos Celtic hate England and Rangers love England.

I mentioned that there were some unsavoury scenes at full-time, and it appears that a member of Rangers' coaching staff attempted to headbutt Fran Alonso as he congratulated his players.
The Celtic head coach has been talking to Sky about the incident:
"Somebody just pushed me from behind, and I was called a little rat, but I don't know why," he said.

Effectively ending the independence conversation
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What if England becomes even worse? Very hard to imagine I know but if they go even further to shiiiit and we are still appended to them, do we just not have the conversation just cos they got Nicola removed?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
England could come up to Scotland and schiete on everyone's living room carpet, set fire to the houses and tax the Scottish populace to death. All of this still won't matter to some - they will never agree to Scottish independence.
Mental eh?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
People will agree to vote for whatever suits their situation best. There's no shame in that, its part of why people fought so hard for a vote.
The reality is if Independence makes a better case for a prosperous future it would receive more support. The fact it hasn't is more damning on the politicians and those championing it than the Scottish people.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To an extent, that’s true. However, I’m sure I read that we’re the only country to have not voted for independence when we’ve had the opportunity-and it’s also a reflection on a section of Scotland who vote because of the historical ‘values’ of their football team.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Only country not to have voted for independence when given the choice? Ahem.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You're a state, mate. In more ways than one!

Province, my bad - you're trying to become a state
Was reading a book on holiday about the highland clearances and the swarms of Scots fighting through North Carolina right up to Quebec and the various influences that left in NA, the interpretation of just how disappointed the emigres were, or not and the amazing fact that they fought for their masters that had just won at Culloden! A good history lesson.

Celtic have landed former Southampton scout Kevin Hamill as they continue to bolster their recruitment team.
The Hoops have been looking to add to their scouting staff and recently brought in Joe Dudgeon from the City Football Group to join as their lead first team scout. Now they have secured a coup in the vastly experienced Hamill who has previously worked in the Premier League at the highest level for 10 plus years.
Hamill - who covered the Scottish football market for Saints - has a strong track record of signings which will be well known to Celtic fans already. The talent spotter was vital in the transfers of the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Victor Wanyama and Fraser Forster among others from Parkhead to the English top flight.

Must be pretty condescending for these people to read the apparent reasons for the outcome.
Pretty partisan argument ironically

My brother worked with the snp party. Wouldn’t hear a bad word about them, militant in his defence tbh.
He’s gutted at this. Makes a mockery of anyone up here highlighting any nepotism or career politicians.
Failing your way to first minister
It’s like John Barnes getting the Man City job.
Doesn’t change much for me, I’m still completely politically lost.

Not sure how good an appointment this is-his major successes appear to be signing players we already had.
If his speciality is confirming players who are obviously good in Scotland, he’s not going to be very busy outwith our own team…
