33, ffs. Goodbye job, wife, weans, hoose, future employment opportunities. Fecking eejit.
Probably right Silver, a relatively soft target, but personally have no sympathy whatsoever. Would be nice to see others similarly dragged through the coals too
Deserves the year you know fine well the damage a bottle can do. Not enough of these idiots are pulled up for their actions.
5 yrs aint long enough ban..
guys a prik
Don't understand how a year isn't long enough, unless he instructed the bottle not to kill him!..
The guy on the receiving end was lucky to escape with as little damage as he did when you think off like what whodunnit says what a bottle can do!..
He’ll serve 6 months max. Dafty mates will buy him beers as a badge of honour.
His work, family life etc; destroyed likely.

Quite often you’re a bit of a cwnt aren’t you?
How the hell do you only receive a 5 yr banning order?
If he’d have murdered him would they double it to 10?
1 year isn't long enough for a potentially life threatening action. And a 5 year banning order is a joke. No sympathy whatsoever. Nor do I understand the mentality of people that get so worked up over a game that they wish to inflict injury on another person and are prepared to risk their livelihoods to do so. Absolute morons.
Happens all the time in bars and no one gets caught. Difficult one to set the appropriate punishment for - on the one hand he is a complete twaaaat that at age 33 needs to take a year out and work out how he has faaacked up that much over a game of football.
On the other hand, there was no intention towards the individual - he meant to throw the bottle but not necessarily hit that guy, not necessarily hit his head or cause that injury.
One of them were you half feel the appropriate punishment would be if the victim could get to bottle him back twice - would probably suit all parties and save the tax payer a fortune - I bet he wouldn’t throw another bottle again either
On the other hand, there was no intention towards the individual - he meant to throw the bottle but not necessarily hit that guy, not necessarily hit his head or cause that injury.
———-
And he’s had a bad time of it lately losing a family member but he’s getting his life back on track now getting clean and has just started a new job
In the case, 80 hours community service should do it.
Having done bar and club security at weekends over the years I have seen first hand the damage someone being bottled or glassed can do. 1 year is very light imo, the fella he hit has a lifetime sentence with the damage he received.

Probably just as dangerous as throwing a knife to be fair. And if you did that you'd be looking at more than1 year.

100%. He got off very lightly.
33 years old .What a fool. should know better. Having said that the Spurs fan who tried to kick Aaron Ramsdale was 35. Different acts but same level of stupidity
My question was partly I have absolutely no idea what that offence typically gets but also, and it may just be media sensationalising it, but it is invariably full of house breakers (worse in my book) getting community service, sexual offenders getting something similarly short, white collar crimes not getting penalised, drink drivers getting no sentence but a big fine - so more is a year a lot relative to other crimes rather than in absolute terms?
Depends what its been classed as. It will at least be classed a serious assault. If the papers are correct and the guys been left with permanent scarring it will be classed as assault to severe injury/permanent disfigurement which will carry a higher tarrif.
Could also have been classed as culpable and reckless conduct which a weapon aggravator added which again has higher ceillings that can be handed out come sentencing.
Sheriff will look at previous cases when deciding sentence. Also will look at the lads character, jas he been in bother before etc. If hes a 1st time offender you may find that has worked in his favour and spared him a heavier sentence.
Sorry just seen it was classed as severe injury

Classic case of two (or more) wrongs don't make a right. However, you are right most likely comparatively heavier sentence due to it being football related and more so as it includes the O/F
Good, but a year's not long enough. And the five year ban is a joke, it should've been a life time ban from all grounds.
But at least it's a start, Rangers woman's coach next.

Rangers' financial situation means that they can't afford the possibility of an unfair dismissal case.
