I don’t mind who we sign as long as we improve the side but it was apparent on the 1st Jan that we needed new blood in midfield, someone like Caicedo but we chose not to sign any midfielders but instead signed Gakpo. I thought at the time that we were just keeping funds for Bellingham. This is a terrible strategy as with a proper holding midfielder with legs like Caicedo/Partey etc, we would definitely get top four. Maybe we would have even beaten Real. We will never know but the negligence by FSG is criminal.

Yes, bargain basement deals.
Disgraceful owmership by FSG to allow this to happen. Klopp also needs to take some of the blame. He should have been banging FSG's door down, demanding proper amounts of money be spent on the squad.
We'll be back to signing utter dross like Fraud-Prowse and Nunes whilst ambitious clubs like City and PSG go and sign world class talent like Gvardiol, Skrinar and Bellingham.
Hope all of you FSGIN fans out there are happy with this!

We are being too generous towards FSG because we have been successful. However, they bought the club for £300m, then sold a 10% stake for more than that, therefore, recouping all their investment. On top of that all purchases have been funded by sales Coutinho, Suarez, Sterling, Solanke, Brewster etc. We need reinforcements in midfield and defence but they don’t want to spend a dime. They have also constrained the club by using the short term funding loans/overdraft for players on the new training ground and new stand. They should have just loaned us the money or take a long term debenture (but this would have reduced the value of the club on sale). Basically, these guys have bought an asset for £300m, recouped all of it by selling a 10% stake and now are sitting on a £3bn asset. Yet, a lot of our fans can’t see this.
I don’t understand how everything has just gone wrong in the space of 12 months?
We’ve got from being one of the best run clubs in the world for brilliant recruitment and actually having no injuries to this season. Where it has all gone to pot.
Now we’ve got no champions league, number of players leaving on free transfers, ageing players on the decline it seems. And now no Bellingham in the summer it seems. It’s just an absolute mess and FSG have a lot to answer for aswell as Klopp.
You’ve literally spent 100 million on two attackers when you definitely didn’t need both. It’s poor decision making not penny pinching.
Remember FSG wanted to Furlough staff and increase ticket prices. Then the whole super league crap. I
know we have one of the highest wage earnings in club football but they don’t invest anywhere near enough for Klopp to strengthen his team each season. You can’t stand still with the intensity we play at and the teams we have to go up against to win the big trophies unfortunately.

We lost Mane, Origi and Minamino and Nunez replaced these 3. Replacing Mane was never going to be cheap.
Gakpo was a Jan take it or leave it deal because in summer he would have been in a bidding war with probably yourselves. Also he is replacing Bobby.
In summary we needed to spend that money on attackers because we have lost so many.

That's true to an extent but due to poor running it has cost us this season. No CL or Europe next season means 100m loss. That was just the get out clause FSG needed.
It’s not a get out clause, though. It’s the reality of how that impacts finances. But also the issues is how much work Liverpool need to do to address issues in their squad. City and Madrid can just spend that on one player because their squads don’t need much work, Liverpool aren’t in that position now due to poor decision making with the squad over multiple years. Also the player’s preference will probably be factored in, and it’s not going to be a shock if those two clubs are the favourites.
All that grooming Trent and Hendo did went to waste
We even got Gerrard involved.
True.
I think you should be looking at making Trent a midfielder anyway. If the recruitment is good you could get a couple of midfielders and a right back that can cover for his deficiencies in a midfield role. Bellingham doesn’t solve that.
A season sacrificed and for what? Our transfer strategy is nothing short of embarrassing.
We missed out on Tchouameni and decided not to pursue any other midfielders because it was important that we got the ‘right’ player no any player.
Now it’s been decided that it’s not longer about getting the right player it’s about buying as many as cheaply as possible.

The bargain basement price FSG obtained the club is often overlooked when analysing FSG. The bottom line for me is they need to support the clubs world class manager financially in the summer if they won't they should sell and the fans should be up in arms. They've done a lot of positive things, and the biggest thing by far was getting Klopp. If they baulk at financially supporting him properly when the squad needs major surgery, he should walk.He deserves better after all he has achieved , especially when you factor in what the competition are spending.

It also ignores the reason that the club was a bargain. The previous owners nearly bankrupted the club and almost had them in administration. The current owners have built up the value of the club and delivered the most successful 10 year period since the 80s.

A lot of temper tantrums on here from people who want fantasy football.
