Moyes was a better Everton manager.
He’s a little overrated if anything.
Never defended a league title and has never won more than a single league title at any of the massive clubs he’s managed.
Didn’t really do much at any of the smaller jobs he’s taken. (Everton and Napoli)
He has a great CL record but that competition require the rub of the green far more than winning a league.
Yes, he has a great CL record

Man’s won more European Cups than your club which is arguably the biggest in the world and you’re calling him overrated?
Won as many league titles as Matt Busby but I’m supposed to believe him doing it in 5 different countries somehow makes it less impressive than doing them all at one club? No chance.

No one said otherwise but it is a competition that requires much more luck than a league to win. The best team almost always win the league. You can’t always say that about the CL.
I was delighted Madrid won the CL last season knocking out the 4 sides I’d least like to see win it but it’s difficult to argue they didn’t get the rub of the green in pretty much all 7 knockouts games.

So you’re saying there’s no such thing as good/bad luck in football unless decisions go against you?
I’ve no problem with anyone think Carlo is one of the trophies. His medal collection speaks for itself.
My opinion is that he’s not quite up there with SAF, Pep, peak Jose and even Klopp.
People criticise Pep for not taking the more challenging jobs but when Carlo did do that he didn’t do great.

I dont subscribe to "lucky managers" you might get a bit of luck in an instance, but a game last 90 mins. if you dont score more than the other team thats on you not luck.
dont win cups or leagues on luck. Maybe at a stretch 1 game but thats it.

his career should be viewed as a whole not just a small window of it.

Peak Jose lasted far longer than Delle Ali. Between 03 to about 2013 he did things no other manager could have imo.
Up until last season Ancelotti’s career seemed to be fizzling out. Even this season he couldn’t keep them in a title race with a pretty ordinary Barca side.

They were having this convo about him on 5live yesterday. Part of the reason is because he doesn't self publicise himself like, for example, mourinho does. For him it's about the players, not personal acclaim.

luck ..... the argument used when no evidence can back up your stance IMO.
rub of the green? na they scored all their goals perfectly legit.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No one said otherwise but they were often dominated and the opposition missed loads of great chances. That’s luck my friend.
Roberto Di Matteo is a CL winning manager. The CL alone should not judge a managers greatness.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
i could name many other lesser managers that have won leagues, just cos you plucked one $hit manager to have won it means not a lot?
they won EVERY champions league game fair and square no luck involved at all.
they stepped up when it mattered most, when up against it they still did it. luck doesnt do that time and time again like you suggest

just the 2 CLs? its not like thats the biggest and most prestigious prize in club football !
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No one said otherwise but it is a competition that requires much more luck than a league to win.

"peak" Jose like saying Deli Ali is a world class player cos during a period in his career he was.
his career should be viewed as a whole not just a small window of it.

Peak Jose lasted far longer than Delle Ali. Between 03 to about 2013 he did things no other manager could have imo.
Up until last season Ancelotti’s career seemed to be fizzling out. Even this season he couldn’t keep them in a title race with a pretty ordinary Barca side.

and Jose failed at Spurs with a far better squad and vastly higher budget. after spending over 200m in players.
what was your point ?

They were having this convo about him on 5live yesterday. Part of the reason is because he doesn't self publicise himself like, for example, mourinho does. For him it's about the players, not personal acclaim.
