I was also angry about a lot of the excuses I saw being pedalled by our fans on social media - like the managers need to take the blame for this as well. I am so genuinely confused by this, so enraged, that its forced me to vent my anger and frustration somewhere.
See the managers would need to take the blame if the club had a holistic ethos which ensured a footballing continuity and didn't the whole playbook had to be ripped up all over again and they weren't starting from scratch every time.
Was Jol to blame that he only came to the club as a number 2 because the owners didn't agree with the choice of their DoF and wanted a big name on the bench like Jacques Santini who wasn't all that big a name to begin with? And was Jol to blame for being so classly sacked during the middle of a game despite all the great stuff he had done with the club.
Was Redknapp to blame for becoming the first manager in the PL-era to get us challenging for the title at the turn of the year and then asking for reinforcements in January only to be give Louis Saha and Ryan Nelson?
Was Poch to blame for asking for a ball-playing centre half in his first season and then being landed with Frederico Fazio who is about as cultural a centre back as Redknapp's wife Sandra? Was Poch to blame for crying out for a decent wide player only to be landed two seasons in a row with the likes of Njie and Nkoudo? Was Poch to blame for helping to bring in Paul Mitchell to assist him with player recruitment only for Mitchell to resign because the club wouldn't listen to him and instead opt for cut-price targets like Benjamin Stambouli? Was Poch to blame for two whole transfer windows of no activity whatsoever?
Was AVB to blame for asking for a ball playing midfielder in the Moutinho mould only to be rejected every time? Was AVB to blame for the fact that in his second season he was lumbered with a DoF that had no connection with his footballing philosophy and signed a bunch of players with the Bale money he didn't even want? Was AVB to blame for pushing hard for the Willian transfer only for the club to royally and historically screw that up?
Was Mourinho to blame for playing a flat back four and then being given Matt Doherty as a right-back despite the fact that the former had played his whole career as a wing back? Was Mourinho to blame for identifying our defence as the weak part of the squad, crying out for a central defender and yet got given Joe flipping Rodon instead?! Was Mourninho to blame for being sacked six days before a cup final?
Was Nuno to be blamed for being sacked in the first place, despite the chairman just coming on record saying he wanted to return Spurs to their historic attacking cultural roots?
Here is the kicker - was Conte to be blame for replaying Nuno even though Nuno was a manager who usually played with wing backs, was told not to by the club hierarchy, was then given players like Emerson Royale who can't play wing back, and then in walks Conte who guess what?! likes to play with wing backs!! Was that Conte's fault? Was Conte to be blamed for not being given an LCB despite the fact that the likes of Botman and Ndicka were available.
Are these managers to be blamed for the fact that they all seem to do well and win stuff elsewhere?
Are these managers to be blamed for the fact that ENIC have spent 22 years flip-flopping from a DoF system to a cheif scout system to a DoF system to a head coach system to God knows what all the while stripping any discernible identity from the club whatsoever.
Are these managers to be blamed for the fact that unlike the likes of Brentford, Brighton, and many others the owners in 22 years haven't realised that they can't compete with nation states and therefore have to implement a more creative footballing approach to achieve success?
No the managers are not to blame for any of this and so much more. We all know who is and some of us say it out loud but too many of our fans are suffering from sort of Stockholm Syndrome and continue to refuse to accept what is actually wrong with the club.
Profit before glory - under ENIC that will be are overwhelming identity as a club and thats an absolute disgrace.

Everyones to blame. Owners, Managers, even the fans. But it is mostly the players, they just are not good enough, and supporters need to start realising that.
You can change owners, managers, but if the same set of players keep on making the same mistakes, then nothing will ever change.
At least 15 of the squad need moving on. But it aint going to happen overnight.
When Newcastle beat us 5-1 not a single player is in the team.

That was about FIVE years ago or something?!
Really good article and good points
I was pro Levy but he does have to change his ambition to match the managers/clubs and transfers targets if we are ever to win things and compete again. Next few decisions from him are critical

That is something I have often pointed out. Spurs still have Lloris, Dier, Davies, Son and Kane being picked from like seven or eight seasons ago, even though as a collective they have never won anything. That is why I put most of the blame on the players.
All now need moving on, get some money for Kane and Son, and give the others away for free.
The fundamental issues can't be laid at the managers' doors. They're employed to do their best with the resources they're provided, and it's not their fault if the upper management keep making terrible footballing decisions with no long-term vision.
All the same, Nuno/Mourinho/Conte hardly helped themselves with some of their own decision-making.
The managers aren't solely to blame, but they're not blameless either.

Conte deserves a lot of credit for the points he amassed with this Spurs side. Such a poor team against the press and in possession but he played to Spurs' strengths.
He got a lot criticism for the style of play, but Spurs fans need to face up to the fact that your current team won't amass as many points playing any other way. He, as well as Mourimho and Poch in final season, could see the limitations of this team, and worked within your owners' limitations.

Same as him it seemed quite obvious for whatever reason that he didnt want to be there.
I don't understand the argument that its the players fault either. Yes they are underperforming but they aren't squatting at the club refusing to leave. Whose fault is it that Vertonghen and Alderwierald were never replaced properly? Whose fault is it that we spunked 42million on Sanchez who can't play in aggressive high line to save his life for a manager who plays an aggressive high line? Whose fault is it that Dier is still at the club, but not just that, but he is one of our primary central defenders as well? Whose fault is it that for years the club refused to sign a proper back up for Kane, all the while hoodwinking fans into believing that no one will come to play second fiddle as a squad player, even though clubs like Liverpool, Leicester, City, Napoli, Atleti, Dortmund, heck even West Ham and so many others have managed to attract and bring in a plethora of attacking despite the fact that not all of them would be guaranteed starters? Whose fault is it that the likes of Walker, Trippier, Dembele, Eriksen were never replaced properly and other like Dele Alli and Danny Rose were allowed to overstay their welcome and stink the place out?

We need to make it as uncomfortable as possible for Daniel levy now. We cannot allow this to continue
There will always be the sandys of this world that are happy with Enic and want Jose football and the ESL.
But there will always be the true spirit of Tottenham Hotspur, the to dare is to do, the attacking football, the glory game, Enic cannot own that, they may try to kill it for revenue but they cannot own it.
Fans like us must stand up for this club. I don’t know how, but there must be a way to defend what’s left of our traditions. I will stand up for my grandfathers passions, that led him to support Tottenham Hotspur. He would be furious at what it has become. He would have been dismayed at the defensive rubbish we have played for the last 5 years.

Levy is beyond incompetent when it comes to footballing decisions, he gets it wrong 90% of the time. The bloke is an accountant and property developer with little knowledge about football.

The fact that Stellini was even allowed to carry on tells you everything about the mess the club has become.
As of right now, we have no permanent men's team manager, no women's team manager, no DoF, a director of footballing operations or whatever the title is for the new guy who has zero PL experience who won't start his job until June, a bunch of deadwood coming back from loan in the summer which the club will once again be unable to shift because they are absolutely awful players who should never have been brought in the first place, but hey at least we have a great stadium so yay. Good times.

Looks like Levy is reaching for the ejector button on Stellini whilst Chelsea are close to appointing Poch.

I’m not gonna lie. I’m gutted chelsea are getting Poch.

Yes, I said this when he left, Conte was getting the best out of the players at his disposal and when a season ending injury to his best midfielder happened, he realised he couldn`t do any more with this squad. That didn`t stop some clowns on these boards blaming Conte though.

Yeah it's dissapointing but I still think with their squad and chairman he will have everything available to make a push for them next season.
I can't stand Chelsea but there is something not right about how they conduct themselves. That said, it is a way better job than the Spurs one right now, so for him good luck but come derby day fack him.

Bring in a centre forward and I don't think that Chelsea team is half bad, and with all the young players they've brought in recently, I think they are primed to do well with a manager like Poch.
Him going there is a total kick in the teeth.
