the "when hasn't he before" wasn't absolute, hence the question mark. you know what question marks are for, don't you?
"know your place" might seem harsh, but it's one thing for a fellow manager to demand a voluntary act of politeness but it's quite another for some lower down bloke to demand the same respect. The argument goes that it shows honour to shake hands with your rival, particularly when they've beaten you. but what right does Clive Allen have to demand this respect? what did he do to deserve it? i can't believe you're even trying to defend his indiscreet and self-aggrandizing public display of outrage.
Wengeance
I believe you should show respect to all staff myself. I'm sure Wenger agrees but it seems this could be more a personal thing.

(I know I shouldn't encourage him, but that did make me laugh.)
I don't get this ridiculous english obsession with shaking hands with people after football matches. Wenger shook his rival manager's hand, as well as his assistant, as per protocol. Why should he have to shake the hand of some ar*e-faced little wind-up merchant who he clearly doesn't really like and has no respect for? It would be disingenuous of him if he did so.
Even Redknapp said something along those lines. If a handshake is supposed to be some gesture of respect or friendship, then why shake someone's hand if you don't mean it, just for the sake of it?

you couldn't find a t|t in a see-through bra so I'm not worries about you....move along, big boys talking..

Perhaps Wenger thought CA is not one of those big boys in tottenham colours, no?
Then prove us he's one.
Exactly Skins.
A handshake is the most obvious of "two-way streets".
Wenger shock hands with Redknapp, Adebayor and others too no doubt, because they would've been genuine gestures of good-will.
Wenger should still have shaken Allen's hand - if only to keep his crumpled face out of the limelight - however, it would've been an empty action on the manager's side, so whilst I may not agree with it, it's hardly worthy of being called names by someone who it shouldn't be forgotten, ALSO represents a top flight English football club.

Congrats.. for recruiting such a record holder as your development manager.
the offer of the handshake should only be voluntary, as respect is deserved. we have this idiotic notion in this country that respect should be shown whether deserved or not. Clive Allen is an extreme example of that because he did nothing toward the match and yet by his words after the match clearly DEMANDED respect. Nobody has the right to demand a handshake, much less some berk with a vague job title.
i don't care if this is old news, this is the first time i've been able to get on since the game so i bring it up now. don't like it? sod off then. i bet you won't be aggrieved if i don't give you a proper and respectful send-off from this thread though, unless one of you is Clive Allen

I'm confused.
Is the "filtered" grey bar output by Google translate, or JA 606 ??
i know it's on the spurs board, what's your point? i say sod off to anyone who calls this "old news".
i can see you're the kind of fan that would defend absolutely anything spurs related, you're just a mindless apologist it seems. it's ok to ackowledge that Clive Allen is an idiot, you know. You don't lose internet points for showing a bit of objectivity sometimes
