The majority of people went to cheer the King.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
How absurd.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The majority of people who attended the coronation were there to support it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
...only an idiot would think otherwise.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Only a grovelling idiot would go.

This charade of the rich and privileged is not going down as well around the world as our loyal media would try and make out - French news is full of the protests in Scotland and Wales and the arrests, and the lavish trappings of colonialism is helping the growing republican movements in the Sovereign countries
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair play, people do talk shiite.

Imagine being at your own wedding or a family christening and a load of Stop Oil protestors tried their best to disrupt it.

Would you just write it off as lawful protest and say nothing?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Did that happen to Sheikh Mansour?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, I didn't marry Sheikh Mansour.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You’d eat his shiite if he asked you though

Are tories being replaced at a sustainable rate? There are lots of old people who are tories and they are really good at dying but are there enough teenagers coming through to replace them? I'm not sure there are.

It was a massive turnout in support of the coronation
The protestors were only a handful

Well of course French media would focus on that given the history of what happened to their monarchy.

The French you say, how worrying.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Which French news. Not Le Monde. Far more about the day than protests.
And most French people to my knowledge watched it.

The Met said "lock-on devices" - which protesters can use to secure themselves to things like railings - had been seized. Recent changes to the law, passed this week, make it illegal to prepare to lock-on.

But Republic said officers had "misconstrued" straps meant to secure their signs in place.

————————
What a load of utter BS. Secure their signs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They were luggage and ratchet straps.

Assuming you know what those are, could you explain to me how you might use such in isolation to ‘lock on’ to something in such a manner that your average delivery driver, never mind police officer, couldn’t unfasten you please?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why do they need straps of any description?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Explained clearly four or five posts above.

Again, please explain how luggage and ratchet straps alone could be used to ‘lock on’ to anything.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you know for an absolute fact that this is all they had? You seem to be speaking as if you have all the facts to hand, or are you just saying what fits your narrative? I’m just commenting on what I’ve read in the news, no doubt you’ll tell me that they’re only printing what they want me to read….:

Regardless, just by securing themselves with ratchet straps, it’ll be good enough for the coverage they want.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, it has been confirmed that the ‘lock on’ devices confiscated from the Republic protestors during their arrest (including that of their CEO) were the ‘straps being used to hold the placards [together]… "misconstrued" as lock-on devices.’

There’s literally video footage of the back of the van with the batched placards in.

Pageantry is one of the few things that we do better than anyone else.

That's why there was a huge global audience.

Female volunteers from the City of Westminster’s Night Safety team were also arrested at 2am on Saturday morning whilst handing out free raape alarms to women:

How are people defending this shiiiit, honestly?

Absolutely ensuring that the monarch gets to ride by the plebs he drains his living from in peace is now more important than helping protect women from the threat of raape? That’s what people want to see British police doing?

If you tolerate this, the removal of which other rights and protections are you prepared to see?

Putting up with shiiiit like this is how you end up living in a Belarus.

It is for idiots. The same kind of people who want to watch elephants perform at a circus and would get annoyed at animal rights protestors cos it ruins their show. Incapable of seeing the bigger picture. Your idiocy should not be catered for at the expense of people in poverty/animal rights. Etc.

Paraphrasing JFK, when you suppress peaceful protest, all you do is increase the likelihood of violent protest, because people are left with no other option.

The monarchy isn't for everyone but currently far more people seem to be pro than anti though of course some will be ambivalent.

In terms of the arrests, I rightly or wrong lyrics compare the antics of those choosing to object to something that the majority are trying to enjoy as away fans at a football match. If you go away and make a nuisance of your self its bad enough, but these protesters I'd compare to an away fan that goes in the home end, wearing their colours and actively getting in the home fans faces. It's asking for trouble and they tend to get removed in an attempt to prevent it. I doubt they'd complain or expect anything else either.

So you reckon the police should never take preventative action based on Intel?

Interesting that one of the innocent crusaders the coppers nabbed was held on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

Criminals are allowed to protest too. Or does one have to be squeaky clean in order to protest?

It is openly known that finding any possible offences and holding up protesters up is a common tactic authorities use to weaken, demoralise and tarnish the reputation of a protest.

Now that Covid is offically over, there's a good chane that the Anti-Vax brigade have found a new cause to object to.

Most people had never heard of the 'Republicans' until yesterday, why didn't they field any candidates in the local elections if they're as popular as they claim?

At least two of them were volunteers who are doing the same thing every weekend: on behalf of a council-backed volunteer scheme, giving up their time to try to help women in one of London’s most dangerous areas protect themselves from raapists and other violent offenders.

Anyone, literally anyone, can buy a raape alarm whenever they want. If people wanted to disrupt the protest with raape alarms, they could have bought one on Saturday morning on the way to the protest. The police in various places actually recommend certain devices and advertise where people can buy these products
