Antony is every bit as bad as a mistake as Weghorst. Worse even given the fee paid and the fact we'd struggle to sell him now if we wanted to.
At least Weghorst isn't our player and can go back.

I think Antony gets a raw. Has he been worth the money? Certainly not. But I’d still have him in our best XI. Even last night he almost scored a very good goal and set up a good chance for Eriksen. He’s been our best winger in the last couple of months.

I think the thing I'm most disappointed by has been the quality of our football, overall lack of control in our play, lack of effort and poor shape out of possession post World Cup.
The squad still isn't built to exert real control and influence over the better sides which is why I have sympathy with the manager but we were better in this respect in the earlier part of the season. I guess given the composition of the squad allied to the number of games we've played, it's not a huge surprise we've tailed off so drastically in the final part of the season.
It's concerning though just how much we've struggled against sides who are better collectively off the ball and when these sides possess quality players too there's a good chance of us getting humiliated which has happened on a few occasions. Hopefully having some extra time between games now will see performances improve.
Whether it was possible to shift more players last summer in the transfer market I don't know but if there was a chance to shift De Gea and Ronaldo he should've done it and in terms of arrivals I'd have done things differently, starting with a goalkeeper and a different type of midfielder despite being happy with the signing of Casemiro because he's made a real difference in terms of defensive transition although not lately but that's far from his fault alone.
If he gives his approval to renewing De Gea's contract that is a huge red flag and could end up being a very damaging decision for him. This summer will tell us a lot about how he wants this team to play going forward.
Fair play to Weghorst, he’s playing for United and earning over £100k a week, there’s hope for crap footballers everywhere

It actually isn’t that much of a WTF if you have had to suffer Weghorst week in week out.
I said two weeks ago that Wrexhams striker is better than Weghorst.

Actually embarrassing that Westham had a better striker on their bench yesterday and Scamacca wasn't even involved either and he's comfortably better too.
Westham having 3 better forwards than somebody we signed in January to replace Ronaldo. It's an absolute joke and largely down to the money we wasted in the summer and previous ones too of course.
Lot of ETH bashing here... Wow (don't disagree with much though)!
Another mistake IMO, is his handling of Fred. He was arguably our joint best player in the period leading up to the international break including the Barca games. Then all of a sudden he's out of the team for no obvious reason.
We all know Fred is a rhythm player. Takes some time for him to get going, but when he does you've got to ride him till he goes to crap again. Missed opportunity there IMO.

A blind man could see that ten Hag would need proper backing in the January window and like last season it never happened with
Two that have cost are:
DDG. His confidence has gone, so he's making mistakes he didn't before. We should have had ,I dunno, Hendo or Butland there since Christmas.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Henderson is injured and Butland is there now....yet he is still making mistakes, the mistakes are Dave's, not Eri'k's.
----------------------
Weghorst is a recognised striker, scored in the world cup, good stats previously, I agree that, as it turned out Scotty would not have been any worse, but given the pressure on our players from some of our fanbase..... it would have been doomed from the start.
Hendo is crap, might aswell keep DDG if that’s the alternative. Agree on McT if nothing else worth’s go upfront, I don’t blame Erik for garbage he inherited like Sancho, Fred maguire etc or the injuries that’s forced him to plays some of them. Weggy however is on ETH as is the time he wasted on De jong and his baffling subs. He hasn’t made too many mistakes otherwise.

True, some of them questionable, more concerned about how long it takes him to make them at times rather than personnel.
ETH has made a few mistakes for sure but I’ll give it till end of next season before deciding if he’s good enough or not. If we’re still getting hammered by top teams and struggle to get away wins next season, questions will need to be asked.
Also, this summer the scouts and Murtough need to pull their thumbs out of their a$$ and identify targets that fit the style of play ETH wants, and not wait till end of August. If they’re still relying on the manager to find players and most targets are from the Dutch league that ETH personally knows, then these buffoons still haven’t learnt their lesson from the past 10 years and going to be same old sack manager and repeat the cycle.
