The league is certainly losing its spark. They’re so dominant.
Had Arsenal won it, it would have been great for the chasing pack. Particularly given how they would have gone about it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
City are no more dominant than United were in the 90s and 2000’s, nor more dominant than Liverpool were in the 80s. It’s been over 40 years since there wasn’t a dominant force in top flight English football.
And there are several times before that when one team won more than others over the course of a decade.
Not only that, but compare it to Spain and Italy and Germany. Who the dominant teams in those leagues have been. Even Scotland for gods sake.
If City are a reason for league football losing its spark, then league football lost its spark a long time ago.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yet.
Let’s see if you’re still right in three or four years time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not quite sure what you mean
----------------------------------------------------------------------
With SAF’s teams you could see the life cycle coming to an end.
I don’t see that here. Every chance City will win 3 of the next 3.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don’t agree at all.
SAF was in charge for 26 years. 20 of those years United dominated.
At what point exactly did you see that “cycle” of dominance ending? In the 90s? In the 2000’s? Or - quarter of century a few years before his retirement?
The bitterness here is reaching heights never witnessed before.

Ripleys, why are you using United to question my comment anyway?
Who says that when United were dominating that some of the spark in the league had gone?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, you seem to be trying to dismiss my suggestion that the league is lacking spark because of City’s dominance, on the basis that United once dominated the league to a similar degree.
Which is ridiculous.
City have murdered our game. Be hilarious when they get found guilty.
The PL is as popular as ever.
City dominating now is no different to when Liverpool dominated for over a decade. Or when United dominated for over a decade. City haven’t even dominated for a decade.
The league gained in popularity across the world regardless of there being a dominant team. And it continues to do so.
It hasn’t lost any spark. It’s just become a league that the team you support isn’t dominating. It is no more or less exciting for fans of other clubs. It is just as intriguing as it has been for over 40 years.
And it’s nothing compared to what has happened in the other big leagues in Europe - namely Spain and Germany, and to a lesser extent, Italy.
That’s a childish comment, Ripleys. My comment was made objectively, it has nothing to do with it not being United on top.
By ‘spark’ I don’t mean popularity, so much of your point is meaningless.
And why are the periods of success for United and Liverpool relevant? How does the league having two other occasions where a team has dominated in anyway detract from whether City’s dominance has affected the current spark?
Answer: it doesn’t. You just assumed I wouldn’t say the same thing about when United were dominant.
Oh and for clarity, by spark, I am referring to the buzz around the title race and the excitement of each season.
How can you claim it’s just as intriguing when one team is so dominant? That’s illogical.
Could be worse, could be the Bundesliga. Bayern aiming for 10 or 11 in a row aint they? There fans are sick of the Bayern dominance.
Jesus Winston, I can’t quite believe you are being this stupid.

City being dominant now is absolutely no different to when other teams where dominant in the past.
The only reason I’m mentioning United and Liverpool is precisely because they were the dominant teams in the past.
It has nothing at all to do with you being a United fan.
The last 2 seasons had fantastic title run-ins that went down to the last game. I don't believe City being dominant detracts from the excitement of those closely fought contests.
