And obviously wasn't good enough so they signed 2 other players 😂
But the point is Martinelli was signed as a striker, and like Jota, Trossard can play there (hatty at Anfield this season proves that...). You can't chuck midfielder Joelinton and support attacker Jota in but exclude Trossy and Marti.
Our best attacking play this season was a front 3 of Trossy, Saka and Martinelli.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
he is still a recognised striker whether you think he is good enough or not is another question.
look argue all you want Jesus and Nketiah have been your only two strikers this season Nketiah isnt and wasnt good enough as was shown and lack of another striker and another CB of sufficient quality and being natural has cost you this season imo.
You might think differently but thats how I see it. If you had another striker similar to Jesus level and another cb similar to Gabriel or Saliba level I dont thikn you would have struggled down the stretch. two key positions you dont wanna find yourself short in quality when it comes to the business end of the season.
just my tuppence worth
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How was it shown Nketiah wasn't good enough? We carried on scoring.
Even when Jesus AND Nketiah were out we scored 15 in 5 games, with Martinelli and Trossard swapping in the striker role.
How many times have Jota and Joelinton played up front this season? 3 times between them?
I have no issue with Jota bring named as Lpools 3rd option behind Gakpo and Nunez, but to dismiss Trossard and Martinelli while doing so doesn't hold up.
And Joelinton would be 5th or 6th choice for Howe, who has used others in that role when Isak and Wilson weren't available.
Plus we haven't had much trouble scoring 'down the stretch'. We haven't had much trouble scoring all season despite Jesus missing 14 odd games. Outscored Liverpool and Newcastle quite comfortably.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
3 goals in 17 appearances and they eye test tells me he wasnt good enough.
just my opinion, you might be happy with him as 2nd choice striker, thats fine
4 in 9 starts in Jesus' absence. And more importantly the team scored the same number of goals in the 14 pre-World Cup games with Jesus as the 14 post WC games without him, showing there was no drop off.

like I said you are entitled to your opinion.
mine is your teams top scorers are midfielders, your strikers are 4th and 5th top scorers this season.
If you think 19 goals from a combined 68 games is a good enough return from your strikers this season then fair enough. likewise Holding is defo not good enough to playing 22 games for a team challenging for champ league and epl next year imo.
mine is your teams top scorers are midfielders, your strikers are 4th and 5th top scorers this season
-----
Nah, they are attackers.
Much in the same way Mane and Salah and Sterling and Mahrez were top scorers in title winning sides. Football has moved on from the big 9 and the small 10.
This is the summer we will be able to spend. I believe ffp allows us to spend 90% of income (a boost from CL income, and have a manageable wage bill). It will get worse in the following years. FFP will only allow you to spend 70% of income in the coming years. So I expect we will spend big this season with a younger age profile.
So we absolutely need a more physical striker who can come deeper and link play. A modern version of Adebayor.
Hopefully the Rice deal is as close as being reported.
We also need to another left sided box to box midfielder if possible.
And then a backup RB, a RCB assuming Kiwior will be able to come into midfield like Zinchnko. Hopefully, Tomi can deputise as a LCB/LB.
And if I am being greedy, Moussa Diaby as well.

your just rambling now.... your addressing points no one raised. there are no rules anyway you cannot say football has moved on from anything ... Leicester proved that you can get success using "outdated" methods.
As with anything it depends on the players you have trying to utilise whatever game plan but again nothing to do wiht the original point.
Your happy with Jesus and Nketiah I think you need another striker a better one at that.
Nah, you have just been rambling on a subject that has fack all to do with you. You made yourself look a completely clueless mug with your Joelinton comment and have dug in deeper ever since.
