Weirdest title win ever.

I watched the Liverpool/Arsenal game in Cyprus on a chilly, rainy evening and thought that was that at HT.

Even with Pool coming back, I can honestly say I never thought for a moment we would turn it round at that stage

Nah, City are a monster and always end the season well, Arsenals replacements are nowhere near the level of yours. But then again neither is anyone else's. Good luck in UCL, I'll leave it at that
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lots of people on here were saying City would go on a mega unbeaten run.

They had more confidence than me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't have the hate for City some do, probably because I'm not from Manchester. But I'm glad you've been about the last 5 or so years because the alternative would have been insufferable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Most of the United fans on here aren't from Manchester either but I agree with your point.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not from Surrey either

Mogadishu?

Arsenal spent 248 days top of the Premier League this season - the most without finishing first in English top-flight history

Arsenal's collapse is more like United in 1992 than 2012 I'd say.

It’s a strange feeling this evening. Anti-climax almost. Out of all our PL wins (I wasn’t alive for the two league titles City won in the 30s and 60s), it’s transpired that this title has, statistically at least), been the 2nd easiest title we’ve won. Yet we’ve been behind the leaders for the vast majority of it.

Happy for Forest to secure their premier league survival.

Tomorrow at The Etihad will just feel a bit flat though. It shouldn’t, and we should celebrate, and we will, but it just doesn’t compare to the excitement that previous title successes have brought.

This just feels like “another one”

I can’t quite put my finger on it - I don’t think this post of mine is doing justice to how I’m feeling about it to be honest.

But like I say, just a bit of an anti-climax.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Guy who has a child like reaction to someone saying that the league might start to ‘lose its spark’ when City dominate as they are, then says it’s an anti climax the day they win the league because it was so easy.

You can’t make this stuff up.

Even their own fans cant get behind their teams PL title.

Sign number 1 that it's a tin pot club

It’s a fair point!

It does feel like an anti-climax but I mean in the sense of winning it yesterday without kicking a ball. An anti-climax in the sense that Arsenal’s recent run of form meant that the possibility of it going down to the final game of the season never materialised. When that was the case in the past, the rollercoaster of emotions on the final day were something else entirely.

I never said that it was easy by the way. I said it turned into our second easiest title win in the end. Meaning it turned into an easiER title win when compared to the ones against United in 2012 and Liverpool in recent seasons. My point was simply that I never expected us to have won the title this year with a few games remaining. I genuinely thought that it would go right down to the wire (at several points I also genuinely thought it would be Arsenal’s year).

Yet, as things stand, it’s even possible that we could end up 13 points ahead of Arsenal!

Yeah, you’re right in that the way it’s come about is part of it… but if you weren’t winning the title so frequently, you wouldn’t feel like that.

If you win three or four of the next four, it’ll be what, eight or nine from ten?

It just doesn’t have the same excitement for you at that point… the spark isn’t the same.

Still not sure what was so controversial about that comment tbh.

Arsenal did indeed bottle it but what were they doing in a title race in the 1st place. They set out to get Top 4 and ended up challenging City by accident.

Where were Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United?
Is Arsenal really the best the rest of the PL has to offer

At the beginning of the season, if you’d told me we’d get anything above 80 points, I’d have snapped your hand off, especially after consecutive 8th and a 5th placed finish previous to that.

However, we found ourselves in a unique position with 8 games to go. And as good as City are and have been (and who knows, maybe they would have won it anyway with this insane winning streak they’ve been on), the title was in our grasp.

I think I saw a stat that said 4 of the last 5 teams in PL history to have been leading the table for the most amount of days and not won the league was *drum roll* Arsenal.

We should have been getting 90 points this season. At that point, I can say we’ve done as well as we can and if City surpass that, then not much we can do. But the fact we won’t get anywhere near that tally is a sign of capitulation.

If we are in a title race next season, when it gets to crunch time, City (and any other potential competitors we are up against) will be reinforcing to their team that Arsenal will wilt when the pressure is on and that we can’t keep our nerve.

That is the message which will be relayed because that’s how we are perceived.

Maybe when the dust settles, I’ll reflect on this as a good season, but right now? It feels very empty.
