If we are bought by Qatar and they go mental with investment and say in 8/9 years time we win another treble.....
Will it feel as good as 99? For me it won't even scratch the sides. That year will never be topped.
Ours felt like it was a great and unique achievement. City's had a feeling of inevitability about it and that it was going to happen sooner or later. Vincent Kompany has been talking about it for nearly a decade and he's been proven correct.

OIt’s an impossible comparison
If you look at the ball playing ability of Ederson
The strength and speed of Walker vs Neville
The technical ability of the likes of Bernardo Silva
And the incomparable scoring record of Haaland
So then we enter the realm of, Uniteds 99 winners with todays fitness and technology. And the conversation becomes even more of a pie in the sky.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It is worse - if we were to adopt Ali's compfort blanket of Keano and Scholesy bootoing fck out of people then we'd have to throw in modern day refereeing interpretations and VAR as well as acting ability.
Who gives a fack about daft column inch filling nonsense?

Forgot grealish is a left winger actually. Ok then.
Grealish would still be in tears when he realises he isn't going to get a free kick every time he falls over, and scholes will be getting away with kicking the sheet out of him

I think the City team is a better team overall. They have dominated the premier league when it is comfortably the stongest league in Europe. Look at how english clubs have done over the last 5 years in Europe, 3 winners, and 4 finals having at least one english team. In comparison to 99 where United were the only english team to make the champions league final in a ten year period, and never dominated european opposition like this City team have been able to.
Yes we can talk about money etc. And yes buying the best coach in the world and players will give you the best team and that's what City have done.

Pretty much this.
Yesterday was a feeling of annoyance rather than devastation.
It was going to happen sooner or later.
I'd even wager that they may go and do it again next season. From a footballing perspective they are frightening.
Pep spent most of last season playing real life football manager, tinkering with the team, the tactics, the set ups to find his best way to play and still won the league at a canter.
It's frightening!
“Will it feel as good as 99? For me it won't even scratch the sides. That year will never be topped.”
Easy to say that now. Let’s ask you again if you do win the treble, a few days after you’ve been on a 3 day bender and are left catatonic, eating soil for the next 2 weeks until pay day because you’ve spanked all your money on Stella and £50 whiz
Looks like Anne has left the site again. Sadly I can’t take the credit.

what i've found odd on here over the past 16 hours is that there has been a hell of a lot of gloating over this treble, but none of it from city fans.
there has, however, been a long queue of opposition fans - mostly the wums, a few from liverpool, curiously a lot from arsenal - who seem to have got nothing at all out of last night other than an opportunity to have a dig at united, how united's treble is tainted, how saf is second-rate, all the usual nonsense, eg

and that's one reason why, personally, and in terms of my enjoyment of this site, i don't mind seeing city win, because their fans are generally still of a "we won something, isn't that great, let's enjoy it" mind, whereas some others on here are more of a "we won something, let's go and rub other people's noses in it, especially united fans" mind.

I find it funny that grealish has apparently had a fantastic season, yet he's produced pretty awful numbers.
Antony has had a terrible season according to our fans and his numbers are similar to grealishs numbers.
When you add in that we have had weghorst and martial up top for us and city have had haaland, it looks even worse for grealish.

United's 'treble winning' performance was superior, and not just because it was the first, but because to be fair the competition across the epl and europe was at a much more generally equally competitive level.
We have to be honest here MCFC are just so much better than any of the opposition, and their main opponents are their own motivations. MUFC have only rarely had that kind of luxury, and 1999 wasn't one of those times.
In a nutshell, United really had to work much harder than MCFC. They always do, and have always had to - regardless of the levels MCFC have played at.
Old Trafford REALLY is a theatre of dreams for professional footballers/coaches - as well as the fans

Ive watched about 20 of your games this season.
He's been alright. Overrated by the English media as usual.
He is really good at positioning himself well to get fouled and win lots of freekicks.
He has no left foot, something Antony gets blasted for, having no weak left.
He's slow, doesn't really score or assist much despite having the highest scoring team in the PL.
Fantastic season tho.
