What’s the best outcome? I don’t think there is one, oil money club or JR + Glazers?

The Glazers will become as irrelevant as the existing minority investors if Ratcliffe’s bid is successful.

Yes, but they will still be there though and there will still be some way they will be making money off the club.

They’ll be sitting and waiting for the share price to rise to cash in bit by bit, as their siblings have done, or jump ship when they think it has peaked.

They won’t be making any decisions about anything: not about dividends, loans, or the debt; or about operational or footballing matters.

They won’t be able to hurt the club financially or operationally any longer, and personally, that’s all I give a shiiiit about.

I still give a $hit about them making more money from the club. But hey, that is just me.

As I always say, everyone is free to come to their own conclusions as to what they care about. But isn't there a bit of an inconsistency in taking the 'impact on the club's sporting capabilities is the only thing that matters' approach to potential Qatari ownership, and then opposing the potential Ratcliffe deal because of something (minority Glazer stake) that would have no material effect on the club's spending power or governance? It seems to me that in one instance broader implications (becoming a trophy asset of a dictatorship) have no significance, while in another (two of the Glazers making money later, rather than making money immediately) they form the principal basis for your viewpoint.

Not if they are holding on to their shares with a view to selling them at a later fate when the price has gone up. Which is really the only reason they would keep hold of them.

Either way, they make money, which seems to be VCs concern.

Your mistake is making the assumption that the only thing I am concerned about with Ratcliffe is the Glazers.

His concern is about them making MORE money. Which is what they will likely do if they hold onto some shares and sell at a later date.

He doesn't say more.

Plus, there is no guarantee their shares value goes up.

I can only go by what you wrote, which suggested that a Glazer minority stake is a deal-breaker for you. If it is, then even if there are other misgivings, I think my point stands. If I've misunderstood and it's not a serious objection to the Ratcliffe deal, then I retract the point.

….

The subject matter to my comment was the Glazers.

The issue of the debt and Jim having money for the club infrastructure are more concerning to me than the Glazers remaining.
