Series was lost with Bairstow as wicketkeeper but Anderson has been really bad too. He needs to retire and not chase 700 wickets

Anderson hasn't been bad let alone really bad. He's bowled pretty well mostly but just not been backed up with wickets. He's been the most economical bowler in this series and the Aussies have arguably been more watchful against him meaning they've attacked the others more. Its a marigns game sometimes but the criticism of him is based purely on wickets.

Maybe it is time to move on but it's an absolute nonsense that he should retire.

Going to need an inspired spell or Aussie collapse from here.

Shame we're going to lose 3-1 but we've made massive strides since Stokes took charge. Need to become ruthless to get to the next level though.

Anderson should be playing his last match today whether he wants to or not. Bairstow should have the gloves for the last time today.

Plenty to work with, but can't just be jobs for the boys.

Agreed. They've laid a good foundation and team ethic but at some point they'll need to marry that with solid, stat-based selections rather than relying on vibes and bants the whole time.

Definitely the potential to become a really good side, just need to fine-tune it a bit with some more grown-up selection decisions

My worry is part of what has made them so good has been building the camaraderie and backing the players with the knowledge they won't get dropped for bad shots.

Side effect though is they're all very matey and it's now going to be hard to drop your mates.

Australia just need to do the right thing and declare now, for the sake of the series. They've already retained, they don't need to win outright.

And we'd have battered them in Manchester if it wasn't for the weather.

This is why they need a reserve day. Australia clearly going to win but are going to tie the match and the series just because of the rain. Totally unfair.

They should have a reserve day so if 90 overs are lost through a test, they can make them up.

It really annoys me that one of the main defences for why they didn't bring them in for this series is because they needed a tight schedule to fit in The Hundred.
