On the UK vs Germany question, echoing 1982's point, I think we need to acknowledge that things look very different for elite multimillionaire athletes than they do to us.
Footballers tend to lead lives that are insulated from much of the rest of the world. They exist in a kind of opulent gated community: where they live, where they conduct their leisure activities. They aren't particularly impacted by the vibe of the city, unless they really want to experience it. They aren't impacted by the things like bureaucracy and infrastructure that make quality of life in some cities / countries much better for people like us. If it's a footballer who likes cultural activities, they aren't limited to the music scene or museums of the city they live in. I haven't seen much evidence that footballers are swayed by the political culture of the country they choose to work in: Brexit doesn't seem to have put off Continental Europeans from joining the PL; beheading g@ys and journalists doesn't seem to be a red line for many either (and anyway, the prospects of another Tory election victory seem remote).
Also, I guess for Koreans, the English language is more widely known, English-speaking culture is more accessible, and the PL more high-profile.

There's some things you can't insulate yourself against like weather/climate regardless of wealth. And if footballers wanted a beach life, mountains etc stuff like that would all be more location specific but I think generally you're obviously spot on
Yeah we’ll always have the disadvantage of weather but some players have loved living by the Peak District, I remember Cavani was often going there for walks. I also remember reading Fred and his family love driving to Llandudno.
You get the odd cultured player like Mata who actually visited galleries and museums but I think the vast majority are just staying aim their awfully decorated mansions with their family/entourage that can be replicated virtually anywhere. My mate shot Zaha in his house a couple years back and he sent me a photo of his living room with a ginormous gold framed photo of a champagne bottle.
CB is probably only our 4th biggest priority anyway.
It's only as a 'done a deal' as it was with Inites earlier this week. Lots of guesswork going on from journos.

Is he still banged up or did he get away with it? You might’ve just outed him.
