Ruthless with sales

Agree. Get rid of them. They've had enough chances and proved to be unworthy of wearing the shirt

It's a tough one, cos Maguire will inevitably have mates around the team and it could cause some sort of unrest or resentment so it's a fine line to balance.

Ultimately I think it's better in the long run to take a short term hit and try and get negativity out of the club, as well as restructuring the finances for future incomings

Ruthlessness is easier to execute if you're in a position of strength. Our weakness at the moment isn't necessarily a product of having the wrong ideas, but it's certainly related to years of bad decisions that have left us with overpaid players who aren't good enough.

Our disastrous transfer policy of the last decade is ultimately what's broken the club.

90m on Pogba. Flop.
80m on Maguire. Flop
74m on Sancho Flop
90m on Lukaku. Flop
63m on ADM. Flop
85m on Antony. Might be too soon to label flop but not looking good.

The Glazers could have succeeded here had they only appointed top class people to run the actual club for them. Instead they allowed their own broker to become a big part of the club and ultimately became CEO.

We now are facing the consequences of spending silly money on players because a) we struggle to sell them and b) Other clubs are asking for similar amounts for our latest targets.

Absolute car crash owners. They don't have a clue what they are doing.

I have been worried about this. A high amount of big money signings have become burdens for us. It needs to be changed. We need DOF who spent 80 million on the top scouts instead of on fancy players.

None of those guys are bad players, questionable mentalities perhaps. Having the right backbone behind the team is key, and also a direction and scouting oversight that identifies the right players with the right mentalities.

I do not want the Qatari’s to buy utd for many, many reasons. I wish they just fack off. But they do tend to by very ruthless in business, and will put the money up to get the right people to do this, because let’s face it, we’d be an investment that reflects on their country (one of the reasons they are buying us).

makes me laugh at some people bemoning Maguire that he has the cheek to still claim his contracted wages. The Leicester fans I know laughed at his reported contract when we finally bought him.

United have been a shiiiit show for years, thanks to Glazers and their agents. Until they go, nothing will change.

Yeah. They should have gone to the top class people shop, and bought the top class people.

Correct.

Just like City did.

What is the rationale & basis for the rumour that we'd pay Maguire off? He's easily one of our more sellable assets. We either sell him or we don't. We're not going to pay him to leave!

Who would want him that he will be happy to go to?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Football people who know/have experinece about running absolutely massive football clubs.

In short, not Ed Woodward. He should have been left to making the money. Which he did very well.

Why should he name names? It’s not his responsibility to hire the best people available to carry the club forward in the right direction.

End of the day, he’s absolutely spot on with his comment.

He’s a supporter of the club, he’s not responsible for identifying the best people to take the club forward. Bottom line is the owners have done a fair job in running this club into the ground. We’ve been the biggest circus in town for the best part of a decade.

I get that we all want whats best for the club, but what we’ve seen over the last lot of years is far from well run.

The thing is that in a decade the Glazers have overseen us going from Champions to settling for CL place scraps and teams like City and Chelsea have overtaken us and we've allowed the likes of Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal to finish ahead of us from time to time. That's a massive failure from the owners and powers that be.

Whilst all that is true Diafol, my biggest concern is how easily we’ve been overturned by lesser clubs on the pitch over the last number of years, from Brentford to Cardiff to Watford and so on. This is the result of poor ownership, poor employment in major roles which eventually led to poor results on the pitch.

People championing Citys leadership team, despite them cheating FFP from day 1. Probably the biggest scandal of the Prem era.

Michael Edwards went to Liverpool as DOF. He'd have been miles better than anything we have had. There's one name straight away.

Every player is being quoted at £100m . I think a couple of big transfers are needed to open the market.

Agree. Looks like we are being firm with De Gea over his wages but we need to clear the decks of all the deadwood and there is a ton of it. It always seems really lazy that we have, year on year, kept these players just throwing money away. Pull your finger out and do some f-ing work!!! In terms of signings I would rather we just Kept Henderson over getting Pickford and saved about 25 million. Sign Thuram and Dembelle on free transfers to sort out strikers and pay no more than 50 millon for Mount - on the basis of the Mac Allister fee and the fact that Chelsea need to sort their squad out.... do not make it easy for them!

Probably hiring anyone who isn’t an accountant and actually has some understanding of football would have been a good start.

The scouts he worked with were the reason for the success.

The point is, none of us know what their role entails, how well they do or don't do it, and how much others influence them.
