No, absolutely not. Another over-hyped Englishman. If it’s not Kane then we need to look abroad. I’d rather we took a punt on Toney, even with his ban.
Frankly, I’d rather we put Greenwood in at 9 than Watkins. The lad is coming back regardless of what we think.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’d rather have RDD up top than Greenwood ever playing for us again
----------------------------------------------------------------------
agreed, sadly I think the club are stupid enough to try and keep him.
Watkins isn’t a bad player by any means and for the right price would be a decent signing

Nice....The message Kane is not going to Utd is finally hitting home, I see
Now the scrapping the bottom of the Striker Search barrel has started I see
Watkins
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You’re a Spurs fan, your powers are weak right now so come back and troll when you have European football
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's the kind of striker you should buy when you've already got a really good striker who's better than him.
Watkins would be a massive improvement for the squad if we were to shift Martial and Weghorst off and bring him in, his tireless work rate and decent enough golf up play as well as being a good all round finisher.
But he isn’t good enough to be our main striker for the new season, if we had another top CF and he was the rotation option (which he wouldn’t want to be) then yeah, a good move if he were near the end of his contract and cheap.
What about no main striker this summer, instead a back up striker (who’s got good work rate and link up play but not a huge number of goals in them), a new first choice GK, CB and CM? I know it sucks but maybe we have to prioritise on what is actually available this summer? Those 4 signings could make a massive difference to our team and how we perform.

A back up striker to who though? Weghorst is off, Rash plays on the left and Martial is as reliable as a tissue paper condom.
A striker has to be our first priority, even if we can’t buy a world class one.
I mean more a striker that isn’t top level like a Kane or Osimhen, but who can actually score goals and contribute unlike Weghorst. There’s been lots of rumours that EtH wants both a top level and back up younger striker. I mean maybe just get the back up one for now and get them playing more than we ideally want.
Would have to use Rashford centrally more often, Garnacho would have to start delivering from the start of games not just as a sub which is unfair on him at his age, due to the fact that Sancho is awful.

Not a bad idea. Watkins can score us 20 a season Imo and would work well with Rashford and Garnacho I think. The alternative is that guy at Atlanta but he’s scored something like 6 career goals so for me far too green for what we need.
I reckon when we get a top class striker that Antony and Sancho have more confidence in, not only in finishing, but link up as well, we will see these two explode,
Bookmark that because, just like good old Kev Keegan, I would bloody love it, if that happened, I'd love it!
And you can tell him that!

Sancho may be at spurs by then so may get your wish!
Rashford moving centrally would also give us an extra spot on the wide areas that could be used by Amad if he’s ready? Haven’t really seen much of Amad but he seems to get a few goals which we’re clearly lacking. But maybe for his own good a loan at a PL club with regular game time would be more beneficial.

Who's your choice for striker clap?
That guy for Portugal, the latest Ramos, is someone I reckon could suit the Prem.
I've seen a semi-rumour linking us to Porto's Iranian striker Taremi for £20m or so. He's a very decent player close to the end of his career. If he were available at that price, I'd prefer to go for him and wait to invest a big fee in a top class striker later. Watkins is good without being a ceiling raiser, but his price tag is an obstacle to making other signings.

I don’t think they’d let Taremi go for that, RR. He has a €60m buy out clause, is on a long term contract, and pretty much guarantees goals in Liga Portugal.
If we were going down that route, I’d prefer us to have a crack at Ricardo Horta at Braga. A couple of years younger, probably a little bit cheaper, and a better all-round footballer, IMO. Can also play multiple positions.
We’re definitely talking about backup players though. The only striker in Portugal who might cut it at the top level in England and Europe is Ramos.

I'll defer to your local knowledge Rosso. Don't know where the 20m came from but we know how things like that get amplified once out there.
I'd restate the principle though. If we can't get an elite striker this summer, I really don't want us investing 60-70m on a quite good one and because of that falling short in other areas as well. If we're deferring the purchase of a striker who drastically improves us, then let's go for a moderate improvement for minimal investment, e.g. Marcus Thuram on a free.
