Awful one day shot from Starc.

I love what England are doing but Vaughan had it right yesterday, its been just too casual. Some of the basics have been poor and especially the catching...and no spinner?! come on.

Steve Smith, best batsmen by a countrymile.

Aussies getting lots of luck with nicks and edges.....

Sandpaper Steve is a proven cheat, he has an awful technique but he gets lots of runs unfortunately, he should have been banned for life, along with Sandpaper Dave

Steve Smith must be infuriating as feck to bowl too. Gets so far across his stumps he SHOULD be a walking lbw/bowled to leg stump yorkers … but he somehow gets a bat on those pretty much every time. Of course, should have been out lbw yesterday if the umpire had done his job (they don’t seem overly keen to give Eng anything!) … went to umpire’s call on review, so he got a life.

Mind you … interesting now.

Good comeback by Eng this morning, after yesterday’s horror show. 416 all out.

England have been really lucky with the weather. They always get to bowl under perfect bowling conditions but Australia always have to bowl in perfect batting conditions.

WTF?! You didn’t watch the last test then, when Eng lost both openers in a farcical 20 min spell in the 2nd innings that was nowhere near playable?

The bowler's Holding the batsman's Willy....

no relevance to this Test match of course but just worth mentioning for purely comedy purposes and fond memories of the late great Brian Johnson.

I like how we attacked hazlewood, gone for 7.4 an over and now Cummins is having to bowl again.

A top quality bowler but the more we grind him down the better chance we have in this game as Starc and Hazlewood have gone for 66 from 10 and havent really looked threatening.

Cummins having to rest and Starc back, immediately hit for 16

Its great to see England put pressure on them. It always used to be the other way around and England would choke in the face of a large AUs first innings total.

you see this is where England need to be smarter.

Entertaining is one thing and 4.5 to 5 runs an over is certainly that but to go at every ball, with traps set all over the field is daft. Duckett has been positive throughout but bye and large a risk free innings and now he's blown his chance of a ton and we're still 200 behind with Root new to the crease.

Needed to play it a bit smarter as we've just gifted 2 wickets and its all now back in the balance.

Stokes will be out for little.

Eng taking BRAINLESS cricket to whole new levels now. 180 odd for 1 and absolutely cruising, Aussie spinner Lyon crocked ... perfect opportunity to grind out a massive score by tiring out their quicks? Nope, gift 3 quick wickets with utterly senseless shots. They got hammered by the media after being so lacklustre yesterday ... today could surpass that.

Surprise, surprise England collapsing.

Basically England are a one day team playing Test Cricket. Sometimes it comes off, but against the very best you simply have to play proper Test match cricket.
