Rice is a transformative player.

A player who can transform your team will naturally cost a huge sum.

He’s Roy Keane or Patrick Vieira-esque

But what does he actually do?

Going on last season, Spurs have a lot more room for improvement than Arsenal, so it ought to be easier for the £40M to make a noticeable difference for you than the £105M for Arsenal.

That kind of money for a midfield sentinel is a big risk, but it's the market that dictates the price, and if he provides the marginal improvement that Arsenal to challenge on multiple fronts, then the fans will feel it was worth it. That said, I do have the suspicion that City's main purpose in bidding was to force Arsenal into coughing up more cash.

He has a huge gas tank, is strong, tough in the tackle, high IQ, can pass, can lead/inspire others.

He'll add goals to his game in time.

He's like a modern day Roy Keane.

Rice is better but Spurs have the better deal.

Rice is a DM I wouldn't expect him to be scoring and assisting on a consistent basis. He's there to shield the backline and transition the ball into the creative players who do the assisting and scoring. Besides West Ham hardly play on the front foot he's never had the chance to show how expansive his game can be, he will get that chance at Arsenal.

Maddison's a good player but right now it's just guess work we will see who has the better of it in the fullness of time.

Rice is a key player for England and just led West Ham to a title.

Maddison got relegated

Rice for me is truly top player. Nearest thing I’ve seen to Roy Keane. It might be a steep price but when you consider the fact that he’s a seasoned Prem player guaranteed to be a success, it’s still a good buy. When you think players like Anthony at 80m and Pepe at a similar price, Rice is streets ahead of both of them. Expensive but worth it.

Maddison is better value but you can’t say Rice is anything other than a great buy.

Rice will be taken Partey’s place in the Arsenal team. It would be Odegaard that is the comparable player from Arsenal in terms of their role within the team. Apples and oranges.

That’s said 105m definitely overinflated for Rice

LOL he's nothing like Roy Keane. Honestly fridge I wonder if you actually watch football. Keane was a countrymile mile better than Rice will ever be.

So they were one man teams then Ted. West Ham won the farmers cup because of Rice, and Leicester were relegated because of Maddison.

So he's like Gareth Barry then, but £90 million dearer.

Come to think about it weren't you saying Tottenham shouldn't buy Maddison because he's overrated, pretty sure you said something like that on another thread?

Not sure if you’re talking about me or Sandy.

But anyways I certainly feel Maddison is very inconsistent. Still a player in a position we are crying out for.
