Probably a specific player that Erik has selected to do a job for him in MF. Mount started like a house on fire for Chelsea but last couple of seasons he hant impressed that much. Maybe just as Chelsea havent either. Like to watch him play a few games in Uniteds MF before judging him. What he isn't is World Class.

Hopefully he’s an upgrade on Eriksen.
Very underwhelming signing for me.

As would Onana be too. Granted Dave isn’t what he was and the game has moved on a little, but as a shot stopper there’s no one better so I wouldn’t mind if he stayed on and the money was spent elsewhere.

Feels like we won’t get a top striker this summer
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It has been constantly shown he is not the best shot stopper. Talk to hafi to clarify with hard core stats.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ah I forgot. Is Hafi responsible for the 2 hour fan-made video of DDG’s errors?

Don't be daft! That's not the Hafi version. His version would be Zack Snyder-like!

Writing off last years form due to his injuries and Chelsea's capitulation, Mason has achieved 13 goals / 11 assists in 21-22 and 9 goals 7 assists in 20-21 (not bad for a then 21 year old) in all comps. These stats would make him our 3rd most productive player behind Rashy and Bruno.

He also has averaged 88% pass completion over the course of a season, whilst also creating very high number of chances (90+) for teammates. Hes also one of the best crossers in the league which is a clear weakness within our team (due to no No.9) that Eth will have identified.

Young, English, solid technical player that starts every game for Chelsea / England when available - the more you look into it the more you realise how good a signing this is, imagine one of our academy players with those stats going to a rival for that price it would be absolute meltdown on here.

Welcome aboard Mason

After watching Alexis Sanchez in the number 7 it doesn’t matter to me who wears that shirt number.

posted on 5/7/23

If a player can't handle a shirt number at United then they really shouldn't be at the club. Yes, it's an iconic shirt of the past but it's also been worn recently by Owen, Valencia, Sanchez etc so it doesn't have a recent history of success!

People make way too much of a big deal about fckin shirt numbers. Especially morons on Twitter.

Keep reading that the salary and bonus package we’ve given him is pretty much the same as he was offered at Chelsea and what Liverpool proposed to him as well.

Surprised Liverpool offered him a 500k per week package to be honest.

Everything I’ve seen says you’re paying him £250k with potential to hit £300k a week.

There’s not a chance we would offer him that.

Mason Mount is set to be paid more than £200,000 per week, potentially rising to at least £250,000 per week with bonuses, in the same ballpark as the deal Chelsea had originally offered, as well as a rival proposal put forward by Liverpool

To be honest - it depends entirely on what the bonuses are - but in general getting your bonuses would indicate that you've been a successful signing? like if it's just appearance based or something then yeah, seems dumb to be 200 > 250k, but if it's after you win the league you go from 200 > 250, I don't think people would complain?

posted on 5/7/23

And different clubs have different bonus and payment structures. So it’s always worth taking with a pinch of salt. Just as an example, United offered players higher base rates with lower bonuses and also took big cuts of image rights. Whereas Liverpool had lower base rates with massive bonuses and weren’t taking cuts of the image rights. That may have changed, but it’s indicative of how salaries aren’t as simple as x amount a week.

I very much doubt we'd be offering him 200k+ as that would have made him our 3rd/4th highest earner.

Bit gutted we did miss out on him though as I think he would have suited our new system perfectly, but Szoboszlai will hopefully do just as good.

posted on 5/7/23

I'm very pleased we've got him. Others will have seen more of him than me, but to me he is a very talented player .
Imo he became a bit disillusioned at Chelsea, which affected his form.
I'd like to see a new keeper and a quality striker arrive.
That's 75% of a new spine, and will make us a much stronger team.
