I said a few weeks back that if we can upgrade on De Gea, Eriksen and Martial in our starting XI that we should improve drastically and I'm hopeful we will.

Supposedly it was between Mount and Garnacho as reported for the number 7 then you can see why Mount got it, he's already had the pressure of being the face of Chelsea for a while.

You are now relying on the unhappiness of Maguire and Sancho to force their hand into moving. I would think Dortmund would be willing to take Sancho back at a cut price.

Maguire is on a hiding to nothing, can't get a game at United, can't get a new club in England because signing him immediately puts the board of the signing under pressure because the fans will be pashed off at buying a walking meme.

Ultimately he needs loaned out and to do well somewhere so he's not viewed as a mockery by the signing club.

Call me mad but I'd give Sancho one last season. He's going nowhere anyway I reckon.

Remains to be seen if we get the rumoured targets first and also if they can live up to expectations also.

I agree with you though on the positions. Our spine is actually quite weak with having a suspect keeper, no real out and out number 9 and having Eriksen play more games than he should be doing.

Let's hope they work out.

Is Mount an improvement on Eriksen? Never seen Mount reach any level Eriksen has been.

I’m quite excited by the links to Amrabat if his WC performances are anything to go by. I imagine Mount replaces Fred in the squad and Amrabat, if the links are true, would be a replacement for McTominay (if he leaves). You’d have to say that would represent a significant improvement to the midfield roster.

Onana is better than DDG and if we can find enough money between remaining funds & player sales for a good CF then we’d be looking quite strong. CB & RB would be one to remedy next summer.

Yeah he is.

He's not a world beater that is going to make us title contenders but he's better than Eriksen for sure. Eriksen really struggled last season physically in the last half of the season.

But Mount was even worse last season. He was so bad that he even got dropped when Chelsea were awful.

Eriksen had dropped a level well before leaving Spurs. He's still useful but not good enough to start every week.

I've never been a huge Mount fan (hopefully that changes) but I'd rather him to the current version of Eriksen any day in most games.

Eriksen will probably be better when he can be rotated out

Need a cb even more so if we aren’t signing a cm that can progress the ball. There’s still plenty of work needed on this squad.

posted on 5/7/23

I think we need a cb anyway as Varane is a crock.

Chelsea were a car crash. They were all awful.

Rashford was the same for us season before last. Look what happened under ETH.

With the exception of last season where every Chelsea player were gash (plus Mount was injured) The previous 3 seasons combined Mount has been top goal scorer, top assister and number 1 in chances created!

Can't understand why people aren't excited by this signing!

It's not always about signing the best players, it's about signing players right for your system/style of play. Had anyone really heard of Bernado silva or Gundogan before they came to City?

posted on 5/7/23

Lack of goals definitely an issue. I expect Mount to chip in with 10-12 as he often has. Last season was a write off for him personally and Chelsea as a club.

Still need a top number 9 or at the very least a player who can become one.

Yes, but I get your point.

Henderson - £20m
Fred - £15m
Bailly - Bag of chips
Elanga - £10m

Don't think those are unreasonable fees.

I know we've done it far too often in recent years but if we can't get the striker we need is there a short term solution out there? Someone in their early 30s, can get us 15+ goals a season and bring others into attack?

I'm not convinced Hojlund is what we need right now, still very raw, supposedly his finishing needs a lot of work and he'd be coming into a side with big expectations.

Martinez, Verane (injury prone), Lindelof, Maguire (presume we're trying to sell) and Shaw (significantly weakens us at LB)?

If we sell Maguire we need a CB.

If we sell Maguire then yes we are but we managed ok last season with the same amount of options.

I'd imagine we will only sell Maguire with a replacement in mind.

Shame we couldn’t get the Mongolian Mugwire. Hopefully we have an alternative lined up.

I’d argue that injuries to Martinez and Verane derailed out season tbh.
