You asked why the player would consider a move and the answer to that is money.

Gravenberch for example, isn't getting the game time he wants.

that makes more sense theyd get rid of one of their higher earners to make room for another in Kane

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I asked why one of their better players would move to Spurs, not just any random player. Bayern pay better wages than Spurs. Their annual salary is double that of Spurs.

And what has Gravenberch not getting game time got to do with Bayern players joining Spurs for money? If he isn't getting game time then is he one of their best players?

We need to keep Kane for 1 more season to bed in the new manager, it would be too much of a disruption if he leaves now

----------------------------------------------------------------------
You could look at it that way, or you could look at it like it's better for it to come now to make it a proper reset of the club, with a new manager, new DOF and new striker/no Kane, rather than let a new manager start to get settled, then disrupt with Kane leaving.

Yeah, he's got real quality and is one of their better players.

Feel you're over thinking this a bit Elvis. Anyway, as said, the reason would be money. It doesn't go any deeper than that.

Mane's reportedly on £300k p/w though ... can't see Spurs equalling that, so how many kids is he going to stop feeding so he can play for them?

Do Spurs fans think they will be more or less successful replacing Kane with an extra £80m added to the budget to do so?

posted on 7/7/23

Kane will stay this year and have his pick next year, whilst pocketing a hefty fee for himself, he's gonna 'Sol Campbell' Levy.

posted on 7/7/23

Spurs are rumoured to be offering Kane £400k a week to make him the highest paid player in the PL, he won`t be getting that at Bayern. £20m a year in wages for 4 years + a transfer fee of £100m this summer, is a £180m outlay on one player, Bayern don`t have that kind of money.

We should keep Kane unless the transfer fee is north of £100m, replacing his output will be nigh on impossible, top class strikers are thin on the ground, if they were so plentiful and available, then the likes of Bayern would be signing those instead of chasing Kane.

I'd accept this if Bayern gave us one of their better players in the deal too
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Why would one of Bayern's better players join a team that finished 8th in the PL, is selling its best player and who have got a new managed that is untested at the top level?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Money.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are Spurs going to pay one of Bayern's best players more than Bayern?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Quite possibly yeah. Musiala only on £90k, Gravenberch £150k, Csncelo £120k, Pavarotti £115k, Sommer £80k. Few more too.

Spurs have a fair bit if money, they're increasing their wages and of course will lose a fair chunk of that if Kane goes.

Anyway, that would be the reason.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hmmm. If they are one of Bayern's best players and they want to keep them then they would just give them an improved contract.

Spurs have only got 5 players in more than 100k per week. Bayern have got 17. Doesn't make sense to me that one of their better players is going to get more money from Spurs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Spurs have more than 5 player on £100K a week....and regardless, that doesnt reflect our ability to pay high wages. NDombele is on nearly £200k

400k a week? I will believe that when I see it. All the reports I have read are that Spurs have offered him 300k a week. Which might be enough to tempt him if he doesn't move elsewhere this summer.

I'd agree.

The offer to Kane is obvs an attempt to keep him but also sets the wages benchmark for suiters to match.

It will also allow Levy to leak "we offered to make him the highest paid player in the PL! "

If we sell then it becomes a more fundamental rebuild of the team and squad. At the moment we're filling places that need filling. If Kane goes it changes everything. Not necessarily a bad thing in the long run.

and if he as good enough for Bayern that would likely be about 300k a week.

Bayern pay their top players ovver 33% more than Spurs pay those.

They have 10 players that earn more than Spurs highest earners.

Kane gets paid 100k a week less than Bayerns top earners do.

It's a risk going into the last year of your contract.

He just needs to do a Bentancur and all of a sudden there are question marks about his fitness, how strong he'll come back, whether he'll be the same player.

Also erodes your wage value if you're buying someone with his ACL 'in plaster'

Kane is an honourable and committed guy so i would not expect him to lower his standards but it will naturally and probably subconsciously happen as the season goes on. He'll want to protect his future.

Think he's planning on living past 35 but can't be sure.

Great quote from SAF today: dealing with Daniel Levy was more painful than hip surgery. Spurs do business the Levy way. Patience is needed. Personally I hope Postecoglou makes a go of it at Spurs. Would be additionally funny if Poch is dragged into the Chelsea mire.

Okay Elvis. We'll the answer still stands and there are more variable than some list on sportrac. Musiala is on £90k, they're paying Maddison £170k just for perspective.

RDD should be available soon so he can pick up the slack.

ALSO what about selling in January. The landscape will be much clearer by then in terms of our progression as a team, whether he is likely to re-sign etc

Teams would still queue up to buy him at say £50m
