this is just a temporary phase these clubs are going through.

-‐-------------------------------------------------

16 out of 22 titles

5 trebles in that period

Temporary phase though

Agree Prof, looking forward to this season, should be fun

There's plenty guys on here have detailed knowledge of all the players you've signed so they can tell you whatever you need to know.

Also they're all over 6 foot tall.

Other than that it's always exciting when one or both of the big two start the season with a number of new players.

I started watching/supporting the Gers in 1961. Since then we've won 68 titles, Celtic have won 76. In 3 of those years Gers were playing in lower leagues

All in all, over 62 years I reckon the spoils, when we competed against each other, have been divided almost exactly 50/50

As I said....just a temporary phase. Three years after I started following the Gers Celtic won 9IAR under Jock Stein

Enjoy your temporary dominance.

Will ever be this until we either move to a different league system which is pretty much a non starter or one of us goes bust which equally is pretty much a non star…..

Wait

I assume by titles you mean trophies? I know there was that new thing about being Scottish Cup Champions that was invented when Rangers won it but I didn't think it would catch on.

Also I assume that by 1961, you actually mean 1971?

Also whilst I get your argument it ignores that fact that Rangers royally screwed themselves in a way that Celtic have never done and it will take decades to recover IMO.

You expecting a 10x improvement?

posted on 8/7/23

Magnum...sorry, 'trophies' it should have been

I def. meant 1961 as Gers had a short period of dominance at that time before Jock Stein took over and started his 9IAR period in the mid 60's

We seem really quiet on the transfer front despite having cash and also in need of new recruits

posted on 8/7/23

Tav an outgoing?? See no chance of that.

But agree brilliant to have had clear targets that we have been able to go out and bring in early before preseason has even kicked off. A lot of the players signed are versatile and offer good physicality. No idea how we’ll line up.

Beale wants a smaller squad, so will need a lot of outgoings for that to happen. A cm and a cb would top off the incomings, Cifuentes seems to be that cm. Cb looks like Panzo, but if we could ship out a few I’d much rather we went for Trusty.

Upheaval at Celtic can only be a good thing, a long time to go till window opens and expect Rodgers to have good money to spend. But they can’t really get any better in terms of their league record compared to last season.

I'm not making any predictions or options until Christmas at least. I need to see who we sign, who stays, who goes, and how we're playing.

Is there a Rangers game on today..? Just passed a family of seven, all of them wearing Rangers tops/strips and a few 'uncles' with them drinking cans.

posted on 8/7/23

Can only judge what we can see and in that respect it's promising that we've made our signings for the start of pre-season and it doesn't appear that we've missed out on any top targets. Remains to be seen whether the new signings are any good though, and with our recruitment record it's 50/50 at best. Celtic have had some disruption but it's not like they've had their squad gutted so no real need for a rebuild there and they'll still be the smart bet tor the title. Hopefully we can put in some good displays in the first few games to build up momentum.

We’re away to Aberdeen and Rangers within the first 4 games so I expect us to be trailing at that point.

Still confident of winning the title though

You only lost one game and drew one game in the first 30 odd games…. A few bad results when the league was already won and didn’t matter.

Unless you think you can actually go and win every single game? Unrealistic to aim for a 100% record if you ask me

That might be, but it's not impossible.

Another Treble and the Champions league last eight would be a decent start for Brendan.

1 less loss would be better. 2 less even better. 3 less woohoo.
And still wouldn't be winning every game. Who mentioned winning every game anyway?

No not impossible, but very rare to even go unbeaten.

Ange was a better manager than Rodgers for me, that and possibly your best player has left it looks more positive for us just now than it did two months ago. So I’d be expecting your form to suffer, if even slightly. But like I said, long way to go between now and transfer window closing.

Fact that an informed Bear like the Prof is giving it the 'Not So Much

Between Us' is telling - and a million miles away from the Rangers

and ingratiating media triumphalism I grew up with.

Reckon I was born at the right time as a Tic. Inhaled the stoic

resignation from Da & Uncles from the bad days of the 50's & saw the

dismal early 60's. Then came John Stein, Lisbon & the world's first Nine.

I'm 70 prob same demograph as the honourable Prof.

In my lifetime Celtic have won 65% of their 53 League Titles.

Rangers have won less than half of their 55.

Whatever happens this season - the future is Green.

Don’t really care about ‘bettering’ last season - league and a cup would be a great season for us. Despite recent years, trebles are not the norm. The league on its own would still be a very good season.

Is Ange a better manager than Rodgers..? Our best player is CCV. We've still to flex in the transfer market. As I said before, I expecting nothing until I see the table at Xmas.

Lots of possibilities then...

A cracker
A good stuffing
A fat bird

Know what was on Lex's christmas table?

Lex
The angel
