It's been great - but we need to go #AllIn and spend £75m+ on a CF.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Might be wrong, but I think Clive #AllIn retired a while back.
Not an Arsenal fan, but good article nonetheless. I like the contrast with the end of the 07/08 campaign.
Rice and Timber are good signings for you.
Havertz, not so much.
Nonetheless, tying down key squad members to new contracts is crucial.
That there's no meaningful international football this summer will also help with squad building and pre-season preparation.
The key for me is not so much the transfer business, but how Arsenal handles juggling CL football with the league.
I've been surprised City let go of Gundogun and that there has been talk of Bernardo Silva leaving. While Kovacic is good, I don't see him on the same level as these two. I think there's a chance Arsenal can be close again if they can manage CL and league football well and if City don't strengthen further. I still have City to win (sadly), and then either Arsenal or Newcastle to come second.

Wouldn't Newcastle be impacted more by CL than Arsenal, it's Eddie Howe's 1st time with any European football, I would expect Liverpool or Man utd to come above Newcastle

Fair point. It could well mean they end up just scraping CL football.
I’m not so sure that we will challenge for the league. I am fearful what may happen with outgoings and we all have the CL to balance in.
Top 4, domestic trophy and a good run in CL would be a good season.
We do need to win a trophy though, it’s been 3 years (which was also the case with the 07/08 team)
I think we'll challenge. No reason not to, other than bad management.
First 19 games - 50 points
Last 19 games - 34 points
Over a full season, our 2nd half performance wouldn’t get us CL football. I know that’s not how football works but our standard of football for most of 2023 hasn't been at the level of before the World Cup.
Even the way we stumbled out of Europe was pretty awful

Statement of intent to pay nearly 3 times what a player is worth.

Be interesting to see how this ages if Liverpool pay £110 for Caiceido

Nope, happening to everyone though. Easy to point to a few Utd players too, market just insanely inflated
Aye like this Hojlund guy, £72M for a 20 year old with 18 career goals to his name in Austria and Italy. It makes Rice and even Caicedo look like a bargain. I mean, they aren’t bargains, but those numbers are just insane.
How much did the woeful front 3 of Sancho, Antony and Hojlund cost??
The cleaners were busy the days they were signed.
Hojlund could end up being decent but yea that’s laughable
Throw in ‘50 million down the drain’ Martial too
I was mostly thinking about paying 80m for Maguire, four years ago
