Thanks View & happy birthday for yesterday Fin !
I shall try & follow the game coming back from London, on the train (if there is one).
PW has stated that Oxford will be strong competition this season. Lets hope they dont begin their clickage tomorrow.
All the best for yesterday Fin.
Hope you had a good one.
The u21s away at Leic's 7.00 pm tonight,
Thanks for the reminder UT. Should be some new (& old) faces to catch up with.
Cheers View and happy birthday Fin.
Posting this for those who passionately dislike Leeds and their fans. Apparently there was a player last week who declined to play for them( most likely to prevent injury) and it appears a second player has opted to do the exact same over the weekend. Add to that they've 11 injuries and I can see Jack Harrison has jumped ship to Everton today.
Trouble @ Elland Road?
I sense Oxford United being a tricky tie, they've brought a few players in too and are waiting to gel so a similar situation to our own. Managed to get their first win over the weekend 1-0 at home to Carlislie, poor result away to Cambridge on the opening week and the lad that we were allegedly linked to hasn't really got going yet. (Rodrigues)
I expect him to be a menace vs us tomorrow.
Apparently according to the Guardian these are the 10 best jokes from the Edinburgh festival. Yes I did say 10 best. What the worst were like is anyone's guess. Enjoy if you can. I assure you that there is no danger of you dying laughing.
The 10 best jokes from the Edinburgh festival 2023
No one-liner list would be complete without Olaf Falafel. He’s here alongside nine other standups with great quips from this year’s festival
Mon 14 Aug 2023 12.22 BST
Olaf Falafel: Getting mythology wrong is my Hercules ankle.
Leila Navabi: I have an unconscious bias. I’m biased firmly towards being unconscious.
Sikisa: Cats are like strippers – they sit on your lap and make you think they love you.
Liz Guterbock: The UK is so small, they’ve got to keep all their lakes in one district.
Richard Stott: I have a suntanning addiction, so only go on holiday in winter. I went cold Turkey last year.
Ginny Hogan: Everyone says your 20s are all about finding yourself. If that’s true, your 30s are about wishing you’d found somebody else.
Alison Spittle: What does Kylie sing while counting sheep? I can’t get ewe out of my head.
Eric Rushton: There’s a lot of shame surrounding 5ex. After I have 5ex with someone, they often whisper “that’s a shame”.
Kuan-Wen Huang: My relationship with my mum is like the evolution of payment technology – we went from physical contact to electronic only, then it was contactless.
Amos Gill: Last year, I had a great joke about inflation. But it’s hardly worth it now.
I thought Collins being MOTM at Burton was funnier.
As we all seem to agree that we need another midfielder I’m going to offer myself as the solution and here’s why:
First off I’m available on a free and my agent has been instructed to negotiate for my expenses only, so no wages involved either.
My strong points and strategies are as follows: apart from any kick-off from the centre spot when I would position myself slightly to the right or left I would sit with my two crutches on my armchair right on that centre spot. With regard to my playmaking abilities I would obviously need all balls to be played to my feet with none of that aerial nonsense. Thereafter I would be spraying beautiful balls all around the park. In terms of my defensive attributes then if any oppo player should be foolish enough to venture down the middle I would upend him with one of my crutches. As this would not likely be preventing a goal-scoring opportunity there should be no red card. Also, as the tripping would be non-violent I should escape a yellow. Granted, the more of this tripping through the game the more likely a yellow or two would be flourished but in all probability we would be two goals up by then so no harm done.
So during the next game I fully expect you all to be chanting the following: “sign that old Chicago on, please sign him on!” etc.
I’d imagine a prerequisite would be that you lived in the vacinity though Chicago?
No Fin - I would expect to be flown over and back as part of my expenses deal. I would also expect to be exonerated from training.
Thanks for the birthday wishes. I have now, after many years, moved on from being 21 and now identify as a 25 year old …
2-1 defeat for the u21s, despite a better 2nd half showing, from looking at the stats.
Goal by Owen Oseni.
Mornin’ y’all
MATCH DAY!!!!!!
Haven’t heard whether Sibley or Barkhuizen are anywhere near fitness. The bench seemed fairly strong on Saturday but that was because we were ahead at traditional sub time. If we are chasing the game it looks less inspiring.
"Sibley returned to training today although is unlikely to feature against Oxford tomorrow or Fleetwood at the weekend which are Derby's next two fixtures.
All being well, Sibley should be available for the trip to Peterborough United. Derby are hopeful of Barkhuizen returning to training this week but if not, he will be involved with the rest of the group next Monday."
You're welcome.
There was a post yesterday that Sibley has recovered and should be available after the next two games. Can't recall return dates for Barks.
I was thinking about this yesterday when our injured attacking players are fit it how are we going to accommodate everyone?
Currently PW is using N M-L & Collins up front with Waggy and Washington behind them. If we are to sign another striker we'll have six attackers for two positions.
Cheers for the info. I wonder if one or both of NML and Barkhuizen might be allowed to leave if Warne could sign a couple more suited to what he wants. Maybe Sibley too though I hope not.

I like Sibley, I like his aggression, but his temperament has me on a knife Edge every time he goes into a tackle
I regarded last season as a big one for Sibley to kick on and show us just what it is he can do a level lower down.
The inconsistency remained but he did surprise me in his aux LB role when asked. Pretty sure that was the most consistent we've seen from him.
The majority say he has to play No.10 but when he has it's never really worked out for him. His best performance in that role was against Millwall and he's never really replicated a 'complete performance '
Jamie Ward is a big fan of his, perhaps he still has this creativity and talent locked that is waiting to be nurtured and unleashed on this division.
Derby County: Wildsmith (GK), Forsyth, Hourihane (C), Bradley, Cashin, Bird, Collins, Mendez-Laing, Smith, Ward, Nelson.
Substitutes: Vickers (GK), Wilson, Rooney, Elder, Thompson, Waghorn, Washington
