Sarina Wiegman next England manager?

Reminiscent of the TV series from 1989/1990 where Cherie Lunghi played the part of the female manageress of a men's football team. Good series. Main difference is that I fancied her but not Sarina Wiegman!

But which players have Spain lost?

I’ll be supporting England on Sunday but if Spain win it’ll be a feelgood story for some of those girls.

Have England played a game in this WC they weren't favourites in, in terms of quality of players on the pitch?

Genuinely asking as I haven't watched any of it. But by all accounts they're doing about as well as you'd expect them to? Credit obviously goes to the manager but the OP is a bit of a jump.

The final will be the first game where we not heavy favourites. A Southgate type of run to the final.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

England are heavy favorites for the final as well against a Spain side that lost half their team after a fallout with the coach.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
which players did Spain lose?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Google it. They lost 15 players in all, but 3 got back in the manager's graces, so they lost 12, ten of who played in the last Euros - 5 or 6 of them starters.

I don't see why not. She already proved she's better than Phil Neville, so probably better than Southgate too.

England had lost about 4/5 first team players since the Euros, 2 retired and 3 have ACL injuries.
Mead, Williamson and another girl

Their form coming into the world cup hadn't been the best either, maybe not scoring through open play or something.
Let's not forget not having Lauren James for 2 matches too, she knows how to change tactics to get the best out of what she has.

So for me it's a big achievement if they can win.

What really impressed me in the Euros she was not afraid to take of the "best players" in Mead and Ellen White to get the results, that's like taking off Saka and Kane.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Players like Lauren Hemp (probably England's best, most consistent player) and Russo broke through bringing more energy and athleticism, so it was easy to make such changes. White if anything made England a lot less dynamic. She was just a poacher.

Mead has been a bid miss. Not sure we have missed Williamson as much

I think you're much more likely to get a high profile woman appointment in international football rather than club football.

In international football I feel the players would be less likely to take the proverbial.

No. She can come on if we need her. Wasn't the one that scored that cracker in the last game the one that came in for her?

How has the coverage been in England for this World Cup? I was there in 2019 and the hype was perhaps 7/10. It’s around 9/10 here and it’s not even a football country so I wonder if in England it’s massive.

White is retired. That doesn't count. She scored 4 league goals in her last club football season. Hardly supposed to be a significant miss.

A good point someone made in the video, if Spain win the WC would they consider Jorge Vilda as manager of the Spain Men's team?

posted on 18/8/23

I'd like to see her take the reins at a mid level PL club next. I think that will be more ground breaking than a men's national team. As we know they are very different, and not 3very coach can tra sition successfully between the two. If she can succeed at a PL club, then it will.open more doors for other female coaches.

The quality is miles apart.

You wouldnt appoint a League 2 manager as England coach on the back of them winning League 2
