They will never reverse it. They are a joke of an organisation. Chris Sutton on bbc live thread called a shocking decision
I wouldn't like to see him miss three games as he had a good game overall. He made on mistake. The Manc VAR had a chance to overturn it with the benefit of replays and different angles. Unfortunately he can hide behind clear and obvious.
100% overturned. Corruption if not.

He's a cant though.
In my experience, British Authority/officials are plagued by arrogance and incompetence nowadays.
I agree it was harsh, but there is no way they would win an appeal. MacAllister arrived a little late, made contact studs up onve the ball had gone. If the referee had given a yellow, noone would have complained, but there is no way that first VAR could intervene, and second, an appeals panel will overturn that. And if they deem the appeal spurious, he will get a further ban.

I disagree re the VAR element but agree with rest but alps both players went in same way and both ryinf to play the ball. Just very poor understanding of football for me.
It was a side foot challenge for the ball.

Refs number 1 priority is to protect themselves so the appeal will be rejected
Refs wont want to have to apologise again, especially Tierney on VAR. Itll stand at all costs. Was a yellow card never a red. We'd see reds every game if thats a red.

I agree that it probablly shouldn't have been, but it wasn't a clear and obvious error. You can understand what the referee saw, he saw studs on shin once the ball had gone. But MacAllister didn't "do" him - he made a challenge for the ball but got there late. If they do appeal, I hope the appeals panel take into account that he didn't go in with force but there is always the danger of them adding another game ban for an unmerited appeal and that would be disastrous for the player.
Looking at that footage, the ref has had his mind made up for him by the reaction of the Bournemouth player.
Very harsh, but I think there's enough in the foul for them to cling to their decision and can't imagine they'll overturn it
Yeah. As most have said, never a red but also will never be overturned.
Huge miss for next week. Hes so good at keepin the ball moving in tight spaces and at st james space will be at a premium.
Wow.
Worst red I’ve seen in a while.

FA should do the right thing, but we are going to need him next week against Newcastle. If not I feel like we will lose because he’s the only one with composure in that midfield atm with Thiago not fit yet.
