Inbound transfers - crunch time

We still have Summerville to deal with. Strikes me as a potential Willy type, but he's not been linked away too much yet. He'd be huge for us if he stays.

Striker, CM, LB, 10 in that order of priority for me. Add a striker and move Rutter to RW and we will see a much more functional attack almost instantly. Need someone who can lead the line well but also provide a goal threat. Bringing others into play is the fundamental thing we need most there, I think. Piroe is the easiest link, but depends on the fee.

Gnonto, Sini, Summerville

Didn't they go to London together to get haircuts?

Melons.

People are melons for getting haircuts?

Melons for going to London for a haircut, yes.

No barbers in Leeds, Harrogate, Bradford?

Or was it just a smokescreen for agent chats?

Could have been in London for any number of reasons. Not like it's an uncommon place for people to visit, is it?

I would be sceptical about believing any report linking us with a Norwich player, just because it feels like an easy link, and journalists are clearly pretty desperate because we are being quiet with our dealings.

I'll admit it, I'm getting a lot of satisfaction from
watching Everton crater. Hopefully, they're pulled
up on and punished soon for their FFP violations.

I've seen this one.....

17. Everton
18. Wolves
19. Sheff Utd
20. Luton

Everton will no doubt set off fireworks outside the Wolves hotel during the run in and also win 1 nil at the Emirates and stay up again.

Whilst he’s nobhead.

I hope for his career, willy doesnt go to everton.

A career killer for him

Willy looking like a right idiot forcing a move to that lot. They're worse than the Leicester side that went down. They are in trouble. Hope he goes there and gets relegated.

I agree with you. But, he's being such an
unprofessional nobhead that he's going to
get more than he bargained for if he does
go to Everton. And it may include relegation.

Rinse and repeat then for him and his agent.

Think Cameron Archer would be my ideal striker. Big, strong, quick, and a natural finisher. Will get 20 minimum in this league. Probably cheaper than Piroe.

I’d be surprised if Everton can stump up £30m or whatever it will take. I think Farke should get him back in the side, get his head ready for Sheffield Wednesday, he’ll have to take what’s coming to him…so be it!

I agree with you.

Unfortunately, Villa's racking up injuries.
And I think Archer's agent has said he wants
to keep him in the Prem. Wouldn't be shocked
if Everton begged for his servcies.

* Everton asking for a loan. I know they're skint.

posted on 20/8/23

Sounds like Villa want a permanent deal to help pay off some of their signings.

posted on 20/8/23

If selling Gnonto gives us the best opportunity to buy Archer or similar then I'm all for it plus with Sinisterra's appalling injury record if another club wants to give us £20 million for him I'd take it and invest in someone like Ryan Fraser from Newcastle who we are linked with to replace him.

If that's the case, then I hope the 49ers at least
give it a go. He would be an excellent signing.

I think I'm at the point where I hope we sell:

Gnonto
Sini
Summerville
Firpo

And just move on from that drama.

Anyone know if Oscar Bobb will be allowed to
go out on loan this season? Would love him.

I'd be looking at:
2 forwards (yes you heard that right)One where we'll likely need to spend a decent amount of money, another less so(perhaps a loan)so we have good cover and competition. No more walking the tightrope of we'll be ok as long as X player doesn't get injured and then they do and in keeping with Farke's target of 75 goals + needed.

A number 10, Pablo type (not many about).

A combative mobile centre midfielder (O Brien/similar type)

Left back (Williams/Taylor)

Another centre back. Again to make sure we are covered for injuries.

It may not pan out that way and history tells us we always seem to think we'll be ok with less than we really need and get bitten further down the line.

In many ways this next 2 weeks will help shape and define the 49s era to come. Give a good manager the tools to do the job and back him.
