Tranmere Rovers, who are they?

posted on 27/8/23

Tosin - apparently doesn’t want to join us - hard swerve then

Tapsoba - would be great, but £50m for a guy who won’t start is steep. I also feel this one died over the summer - it would have happened by now.

Schuurs - at the prices quoted and given his past plying relationship with VDV I think is the best bet - but I don’t think it will happen, just a gut feel.

Johnson - now injured, so we’re almost nailed on to sign him

Ferguson - Brighton allegedly want £120m for a lad that often gets benched by Danny Welbeck - it’s insane. At £70m maybe, but £120m it’s never happening.

Others missed

Gift Orban - a real punt but at £25m and very low wages by Prem standards it could be a shrewd move. I think this one could happen.

Jonathan David - we’ve been linked a bit, I think he could do well but never make the heights people were optimistically predicting for him.

Vlahovic - if we can then we should, I think he will do very well at Spurs - but I can’t see him wanting to leave Juve regardless of their finances.

D'oh missed Gift Orban in my haste

Orban would come in for under 21 too and would not bloat the squad under the home grown rules too.

Orban also is relatively cheap - music to Levy's ears.

Would not want J David. Overhyped imo.

Vlahovic would be my dream striker....Dreams don't happen for fans under Levy

Thank you

Yeah Vlahovic is the stand out, he is a pressing machine, hard runner and can finish. Had a poor season at Juve last season but still bagged (I think) 15 in the league. Big strong sticky bloke that can hold up play as well.

If we bought him and Johnson, then I would forgive them if they then took Lenglet on a free due to lack of funds

LOL £115 million for Ferguson. Is this April Fools Day. Spurs need to steer well clear of that.

Brighton may be able to mug of Chelsea, but Daniel Levy aint falling for that ridiculous price, and I don`t blame him.

Yep, £100m + for a young striker with 4 Prem goals - Chelsea would consider that cheap at twice the price

The stand out part is an opinion Luka - by definition alone I have to make it up, or as most humans state “form” the opinion.

Do keep up fella

Would love Fergusson and Tapsoba.

I don’t get the whole “We can’t buy Tapsoba to sit on the bench” - such a small time mentality and why we are where we are.

We need to start buying players that should be in the first 11. I’m sick of hearing “good squad player”- then we’re stuck with loads of “squad players”.

It’s not unreasonable to have VDV, Romero, Tapsoba and Phillips as our CBs. Especially as VDV could cover LB.

If Richarlison played for any other club we’d be ripping them for it. But because he plays for Spurs, he needs time etc blah blah blah. He’s craaap. Tout him to Saudi as Brazil’s No.9 and take whatever we can whilst his stock is still high(ish) instead of at the end of the season when he’s scored 5 goals.

We need a starting striker.

I am 98% sure Levy will not add first 11 quality to this squad now though. He never does. We will end up with NJie 2.0 and a lower Prem player in the last year of their contract for CB.

Next summer is going to be fun at Chelsea if they miss out on the CL - it will be a great watch, 8 year contracts becoming 16 years.

Does Tapsoba want to come and sit on our bench though? Romero and VDV have looked superb.

We had a similar problem with strikers - no one decent wanted to back up Kane

Romero gets a few injuries, loads of games, we need 3 good CBs.

I know we do but at the same time we can’t call the club small time if Tapsoba doesn’t want to come and sit on our bench - it’s apparently why Tosin doesn’t want to join us either.

I think Schuurs will be more open minded, but is suspect we won’t sign another CB this window or we will just bring Lenglet back as cover

If we don’t sign another attacker after selling the clubs best player for 50 years then Levy is worse than even I thought

If Levy has any serious ambition he should be going out and buying Tapsoba, upgrading Hojbjerg and finding a CF.

Hopefully we can shift our deadwood so we can bring in some new faces, even if it means taking a hit on some of them. I won`t be surprised if we see some loans or loan to buy deals again in vintage Levy style.

I agree with most of that Billy but I’m not convinced we need a replacement for PEH - Sarr looks like the real deal and we have Be rancher to come back. Skipp is adequate. I would rather spend that money on a top attacker or CB

Yes, hallmark of Levy unfortunately....

Even with money burning in his pocket he doesn't think about bolstering the team, instead he thinks about his yacht and what colour next one should be
