I'd have rather Played the starters last night and tried to win (I think we would have) and then played last night's team at Burnely. If we lose at Burnely, still plenty of time to make up the points and we'd have still known last night's shower aren't good enough. As it is, we're out of the cup and another trophy chance gone !
We learned nothing. Its either bad management or Levy is involved because of the window

In defence of Ange, he needed to see certain players play, I’m not really bothered by the result myself
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Respectfully disgree
SKIPP..... Got hooked after an hour at Brentford, not started since
PEH.... Has had sub mins in all 3 games and is up for sale
DAVIES.... worst player at the club. What happened to the new team leaders (Son, Cuti & Madders).. not one of them started
SANCHEZ,..... No words needed, joke of a footballer, Played 90 Mins at Brentford (after Cuti injury) dropped immediately (despite playing ok)... Up for sale
GLC... waste of time, send him back to Spain (mental midget)
SCARLET..... On as a number 10 ahead of Madders @ HT.... Joke
ROYAL... Can live with that one
SOLOMON.... Can live with that one
PERISIC.... Old man, Is nothing more than a sub.
While I agree Its a squad game, there are varying degrees of how you use it. 2 weeks into the season, No European Football and continuity is key with a new manager, new players and a new approach... Last night was not the game (hardest of the round) to rotate 9.
I refuse to believe anybody (Ange included) learned anything they didnt already know.
Am I missing something..... Was Ange expecting a 33 year old Davies to play like Udogie, PEH to turn into Bissouma or Sanchez to all of a sudden know what to do with a ball at his feet ?
Just BS excuses. I find it funny that he knew straight after walking in that Bissouma was a starter, Madders was a much needed number 10, Udogie was a star in the making but somehow forgot that these cart horses from last season managed to finish 8th !!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Looking at many on here picking the teams they'd select for the game, they had the likes of GLC, Skipp, PEH, Davies, Emerson too. Maybe Ange picked too weak overall..but we should have expected these guys to step up better than they did and obviously so did Ange.

Well isn’t Ange supposed to be a no nonsense kind of manager? He needs to stand up to Levy and his meddling.
https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/aug/29/fulham-tottenham-carabao-cup-match-report
Take GLC for example..... Fine, give him the chance to play to compete with Madders to be the 10. But theres no point if Madders is playing with Sarr & Biss behind him and GLC gets two donkeys in PEH in Skipp. It totally contradicted the improvement in the early part of the season... It was doomed to failure.... made no sense !... Momentum killer !
3 or 4 changes is fine but 9 was stupid... Totally dumb management

I dont know mate.... Last night was a shambles, all very "Spurs Under Levy"
Many of the 9 changes were players that the club would potentially sell or loan out if the right offer came in and Ange was obviously putting them in the shop window as well as giving them a chance to impress him.
Of course it's backfired spectacularly because those players are now even less desirable than they were and we're stuck with them on the wage bill.
Levy needs to accept that with our bloated dross ridden squad he may have to virtually give some players away, some chance!!!?
yeah 9 was silly.
one of sarr and biss should have started along with one of son and kulu and one of porro and udogie.
ange completely misread the room last night i think
I pretty numb to happened last night as we have seen it before, but I am still fairly optimistic for the rest of the season.

Well it’s still only August, and we’re left in only two competitions, so really should be giving our all in both.
OP
Agree with everything. Ange fecked up completely , however some care to dress it up.
Thing is most successful teams and pretty much for ever have a core spine in team. Normally a GK, one CB, one CM, and on striker and they very rarely drop them from any game over a season (barring injury).
You then have the rest of you starting 11 who will play most of the games over the course of the season (again barring injury).
Not us we make wholesale changes, especially in the domestic cups. It's never worked for us and never will.
We've not had a decent spine of a team since the final season at the lane and this is our biggest problem. Levy has to take full blame for that no argument.

Still a CB and Striker short and lot of players need moving on. I give it 4/10.
Madders, VDV, Vicario, Solomon, Phillips and Veliz✅️ Along with securing Kulu and Porro.
Losing Kane ❌️❌️ and Winks ✅️
Still alot of Rat players there. Ratdombele, Erat Dier, Ratinson Sanchez, Ratuilon, Byrat Gil, Rat Sess and Hugo Llorat.
Hopefully a few will finally leave (Sanchez, Dier, Ndombele) and we simply have to get another decent CB and a forward as most of us can see the need. If PEH goes too then maybe another midfielder.
But I also fear we have left it too late and it will be panic buys if anyone comes in and not players we have actually identified and want.
Same old same old excuse incoming.....we tried etc .............. but I would argue Levy you khant you have had since the window opened etc to sort it.
The problem with CB now is that because we have allowed Romero and VDV to bed in, no half decent CB is going to look at us and think they're going to get a chance.
If we had bought two CB before the start of the season while everything was up in the air then we probably would not now be struggling.
That is all down to the way Levy operates.
Levy desperate for a positive NET spend, this window…
Even though we are desperate for a top striker & CB
Let’s see which is his biggest priority…
Expect mutiny!!

a maddison alternative is a higher priority than a striker
we will share goals around the team all season as long as we have that creative quality.
Ange is going to be rightfully annoyed if we don't sign another centre back. He said it in pressers early on..
if we do sell Dier and sanchez and dont sign anyone, then who becomes our next CB? Davies? Tanganga? Royal?
why havent we put the money down for Tapsoba?
