richarlison isn't being helped in the league by being subbed off when perisic comes on.... which is counter intuitive since richarlison's main strength is in the air, and perisic is delivering a quality cross...

when they actually are on the pitch together look what happened..

To be fair I honestly cannot remember the last time a manager who was looking at players hooked 3-4 at half time? Maybe has happened but not often?

Decent balanced summary Sandy. I agree that changes were needed by Ange, to look at some players, but that too many were made to be really helpful in understanding how players will perform.

Not sure us fans learned anything new, although i believe it will have been a fairly useful exercise for Ange to see some deficiencies first hand.

Taking it from the back, it is clear that Sanchez aint good enough and Ange hasnt even put Tanganga & Dier in the squad most weeks, so 100% some action needed here - an absolute must this window!

Midfield. I think with Bentancur back then Biss, Sarr, Bents & Maddison is a strong set up. Whether GLC is a suitable back up is still up in the air. PEH can do a job as he has been. Skipp looks too limited for this system. But one would take a decent offer on any of them 3 but they need replacing if any go and I am not sure what replacements could be in the pipeline, if any.

Strikers - Decent wide options, Gil to return and he may add something too. Its the striker position that is short and while I believe Richy needs to be given more time in this role, he needs competition. Given our current status, i think the new forward can easily been a younger player looking to prove themselves at this level as opposed to a big name. As a group we now average a much lower age and like under Poch (who didnt get his big signings in until the following summer - Aldi, Son, Trips etc) they can develop together as part of a process rather than a massive Chelsea-esque spurlge with the hope of catapulting us towards the top.

I think we have to accept that going forward this season we will be far the complete package, but a work in progress with some very decent additions, some key departures, but with more work to do. Look at LFC under Klopp and Arsenal under Arteta, they built something over a number of windows and it has largely been through carefully selected players. We need to do the same and make sure that this curve that we are now on is upwards and gets the right bods in for the long term, not just any bods in for the sake of changing some faces around the club.

Very disappointed to be out of a cup that we had a chance in...albeit that it is now a very hotly contested trophy with only Chelsea LFC City(6) Utd(2) having won it in the last 10 years

Ange’s first major misstep at Spurs and a disappointing one - Stevie Wonder could see we were heading out last night with that line up.

Lots of people telling me that Ange is no one’s bag man - bollox, last night was prime Spurs manager under Levy, rotated out of the cups.

Dropped points on Saturday will be equally disappointing. Hopefully Ange has learnt that he has about 18 players at his disposal in reality and that rotating more than a 3 at a time will end disastrously like the numerous times before it.

If he learns I can forgive, if he repeats in the FA cup then we know his only ambition is CL qualification and he is another Levy yes fluffer

Fair assessment.

Agree with your list of players.

We need another CB and an out and out striker, that's why I don't understand and am underwhelmed massively with the talk of Brennan Johnson.

From what I've seen of him - admittedly YouTube only, the lad Veliz definitely looks worth a try up front?

If your good enough your old enough!

Am I the only one who believes Richarlison is never going to cut it? He never set the world alight at Everton, I couldn't believe we were interested in him at Everton let alone at £60mill or whatever we paid for him?

Never saw him fitting into Conte's side and certainly don't see him fitting into Ange's no matter how much time he's given?

He's never going to score the amount Kane did, but if he weighs in with double figures that will be fine, as the goals will be shared out this season. Most teams don't have a Kane or a Haaland.

I don't think there's a striker alive on this planet who is going to score what Kane did for us right now so I'm not comparing, especially as under Ange we appear to be playing a different brand of attacking football, 'cumbersome' is the word I'm looking for and genuinely be surprised if he gets double figures for us in the league.

Right now his head is down as is his confidence. We need to see if he is capable of lifting his form and output before writing off a 60m investment. He hasn't been given much chance in the team in the last 12 months so 3 games in is hardly enough.

We need a CB so badly or Ange needs to bute the bullet and promote Phillips and Dorrington. I don't care how young they are at this stage. We are desperate not to see Sanchez or Dier play

Clubs a joke, we can’t even compete with Brighton for transfers anymore.

Does anyone remember what a game changer the stadium was going to be - we can’t even get any khunt to sponsor the faaaacking thing.

This is the biggest problem with the bald faaaack wit, there is no strategy, where that is most evident is in the transfer market. We will hugely overpay for Brennan Johnson or will walk away and sign no one. Where’s targets B, C , D etc. why have we left it so late - it not like we shifted any significant player in the last couple of weeks - just Spence. Why do we have an £11m net spend in a year we’ve sold a generational player yet Chelsea is nearly at half a billion and teams like Villa are outspending us.

It’s broke, it’s because of Levy, the Levy apologists need to faaaacking wake up now before our main rivals become Crystal Palace

What scouts, what committee - it’s just Khunty bollox making it up as he goes along.

We’re a CB short, a goalscorer short and have huge holes in the depth department. The only real cover we have at the back is Royal for Porro, Midfield we’re mostly okay although GLC is completely unreliable so an injury to Maddison could prove costly and upfront they are all shiete so it doesn’t matter anyway.

What sort of club sells its best player in 50 years and makes no attempt to replace him? £11m net spend, faaaack me what a joke

Khunt chairman

I hear you but as I said, I'm basing my opinion on what I've seen of him at Everton before also, as I say, I just don't believe he's any good.

Christ though, believe me I want to be proven wrong and hope I am!

I haven’t seen Fati play. Is he any good, better than Johnson (who I rate)?

Apparently he’s quite injury prone too.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

You won’t be proven wrong, he’s an absolutely bang average player with no outstanding quality - not a pace merchant, not technically gifted, not creative and is a weak finisher. He will be lucky to get double figures in the PL. Top quality forwards never go 33 league games with only 1 goal even when they lose a bit of form - only Maupay at Everton has worse stats than Richarlison currently. Waiting for him to materialise into some sort of competent replacement for Kane is a fools errand, it’s not gonna happen, he should be squad fodder only and we should be moving heaven and earth to get a decent forward in.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Dier agree with, but Ange likes Sanchez, and despite his missed penalty, he was probably Spurs best player midweek. I am not going against Ange. He is OK as backup. You ain't going to get a quality CB anyway who will just sit on the bench.
