I very much doubt it's just luck.
This season and the summer have seen quite a lot of injuries beyond United. Mings, Timber, Jesus, Enciso, Nkunku, Chukwuemeka... Seems like there have been more than the usual number of lay-offs. Perhaps the demands of the modern game are pushing players to their limits.
But I'm just not convinced our players are fit enough. Even when they're not injured, they can't sustain an intense performance over 90 minutes.
Can this really all be down to bad luck?
-----------------
Slightly, yeah.
Lindelof isnt injured. Martinez just a knock. Mainoo and Amad's injuries you can't do much about. Varane has been injury prone for years. Shaw less so recently but still seems to be prone to the odd one.
Mount's is a bit of a worry, as he missed quite a significant amount of time last season with injury and as far as I'm aware the one is got now is still unspecified which is never a good sign. But this is ofc something we should have been picking up when we signed him.
All in all its difficult from where we're sitting to pin these types of things on the medical team.
It's a big problem across the board, for 19 teams anyway.
It's all well and good saying that this is what squad players are for, but unless you're Man City, you either run the risk of overplaying your best players or you run the risk of losing games by trying to manage them with squad players.
Dosent help when the powers that be are more interested in Harlem globetrotting around North America than having a proper pre season

Is that the City who only had 21 outfield players in the squad last season?
Only 3 or 4 who should be anywhere near the team tbf.
A couple of good comments above pointing out that this is a wider phenomenon than United. Players have more matches than ever before, less recovery time between games, and the sport is played at a much higher intensity than yesteryear. Many leading players have spoken out about this. It's going to take it's toll. Perhaps that's part of the attraction of essentially low intensity veterans' leagues for footballers who can still perform at the highest level in Europe.
United, though, do seem especially bad at handling this. Whether we're as complacent and unprofessional in the medical department as other areas, or the recruitment team isn't doing due diligence, or it's Ten Hag's reluctance to rotate, the club should be seriously reviewing this.
Malencia, Martinez, Shaw, Verane and Mount have a history of short term injuries in fairness.
Busby I keep meaning to ask as I've seen you say it a few times - is 'Malencia' meant to be an insult or is it a genuine mistake?
Either way it's pretty funny.
Part of it is luck. Part of it is holding a world cup in the middle of the season.

That's a shame; I had rather taken a shin to his new nickname.
Think a lot of people don’t realise that players do fatigue during games. They are human beings, not robots. It’s normal that they tire. Maybe some fans should try playing a game of footy for 90 minutes and see the level of intensity they can maintain.
The injuries in football generally at present is more than normal I have to say. There’s too much football nowadays, and every game is trying to be played at the upmost intensity. It’s probably normal there is an uptick in injuries as a result. I’d much prefer less games played, at a higher quality / intensity for sure.
Specific to United it’s probably a combination of poor pre-season, some consistently injury prone players, poor squad rotation due to having a poor squad and ETH pushing players to their max.
The curse of Phil Jones leaving.
Football needs to be played at a lower intensity so that players don’t get completely facked.
did ETH doe pre season with the squad last season?
Havent Martinez's last 2 injuries resulted from him kicking the opposition?

ah well that does that theory in .... was there a lot of injuries last season ?
I know the dutch like to let their players get "fit" on their own time and try to spend as much time on shape and rotations etc during pre season as possible. (Obv still do fitness work).
Yeah we had quite a few injuries as well last season. Our squad isn’t the most robust, to be honest. But given how many cup games we’ve played since covid facked the footballing schedule, we’ve played a lot of games with short turn around times. It’s not something that is unique to United in regard to the schedule causing more injuries than usual. The footballing authorities haven’t done much to look after the welfare of the players.

could be pure stereo type lazy stuff from me , but it is common for the dutch to prefer this route in their pre- season.
We had that with Van Bronkhorst @ Rangers, he ran a "traditional" dutch pre season and the difference in our injuries was insane from previous.
again could be co-incidence and laziness but something to think about.
Liverpool suffered with it last year. Its over playing the best players to try keep up with city because squad players arent good enough IMHO. Whereas city can change pretty much like for like
Sounds like laziness as we probably got fewer injuries than the seasons before. But then we didn’t have a full pre season with most of the squad. The biggest issue for us is the squad and the schedule the last few years.

Liverpool can use that excuse as we've been chasing City with mostly the same players for 5/6 years. United finished a distant 3rd last season, never really challenged City for the league and basically done fack all to enable them use this excuse.
