Personally I'm not willing to scrap VAR because two people firstly thought they were checking whether it was a goal rather than offside. It's not even hard. To then not flag it is just rank amateur.

None of that is to do with the technology, it's everything to do with wilful neglect towards their role.

Both should he sacked.

It is a mystery how VAR is actually exposing the incompetence more than ever before and for that reason it should be scrapped. I don't get the logic behind these scrap VAR calls. They're stoopidity at work.

I don't think it's stupidity. I enjoyed football more before it arrived.

Definitely not. We're seeing humans make incorrect decisions with VAR, only twenty grade one referees and a poor standard compared to the only top leagues and you want to unleash them without the help? They'd get lynched.

The audio is out... and it is laughable.

I don't blame you for wanting VAR gone. It's using this particular situation to call for it's scrapping that's mind bogglingly nonsensical.

Indeed it is. It's like they weren't watching the game. Did their check, used language like absolutely fine, perfect and somehow this translated to no goal. Then as the referee was signalling no goal and the free kick is about to be taken, the replay operator is asking them are they sure, it's offside, are they happy with it? Again they obviously aren't watching as at no point do they say hold on a second why are they bringing it for a free kick and not back to the centre circle? They're too busy, yes mate, matey mate jolly good time mate, pass me my coffee in my Man City mug please good mate.

So either they weren't paying attention or they purposely didn't want to gave the goal and messed around until the game restarted and then owned up to the mistake. It's gross misconduct by purposely not doing their job or it's corruption. Either way and I don't say this lightly, they should lose their jobs.

VAR: Check complete, check complete. That's fine, perfect (showing Diaz is clearly onside). Off.

Referee: Cheers mate

VAR: Thank you mate

Referee. Well done boys. Good process

Or we could give them a dressing down and not expect a similar mistake - I doubt this mistake will ever happen again, no need for anyone to lose their job.

It’s very clearly not corruption, the audio showed that, it’s just sheer incompetence and most importantly a lack of a clear process. They have to have a communication protocol, quite simply “legitimate goal” or “goal disallowed” - would have stopped any faaack up

The audio didn't show that. The audio showed either they weren't doing their jobs watching the incident or they were purposely not giving the goal and not admitting the mistake until they couldn't change it. Why does the VAR say "off" to the referee?

I'll show it again.

Yes a faaack up, not corruption. Again, a lack of process

posted on 3/10/23

Lack of process? Why did the VAR tell the referee Diaz was off? What process failed here? If he substituted the word 'off' for 'on', then the correct decision is made. Nothing to do with the process. He wasn't paying attention, not doing his job at best or corrupt at worst. Sackable offence for me.

Agreed. Simple as that.
