What would it take for Spurs to Challenge

2 x fast CBs (one right footed and and one left footed)
1 top class goal scoring LW
1 x Athletic DM as back up to Bissouma

70-80m for toney
40-50m for tapsoba
25m for jota.

I struggle to see Spurs and Levy spending nearly 400m this season !

Luck and additional strength in depth. Need more goals up front, so really another striker and possibly a forward/winger. Either we sign proven quality or our recruitment uncover some gems like they did with Vicario and VDV. Another CB would be helpful.

Once again we are in a really good position and it falls on Levy to make the most of it. I do worry he's going to be too pleased already with being near the top to do anything and push the boat out to challenge for the title.

70-80m for toney - Doubt he would come to us.
40-50m for tapsoba - Signed a 5 year contract.
25m for jota. - we can do better.

I don't see any value of looking ahead in terms of challenging for the league or any of that nonsense.

It's great to dream and have hopes, but this club with Levy will let always let you down. Lost count of the false dawns over the years.

As far as I concerned, this is year one of Ange. Time to build the foundation for years to come. I only look forward to the next game. Nothing else.

As Ange said we are in October. Every so far means nothing. Just enjoy the games because we play good football now 🙂.

Bentancur is back in November so that’s the DM bit covered.

Spurs to challenge .

Fairly clear that Richarlison would not be Ange's first choice if other options were available, not convinced that Toney is either
Need a CB, LWB and a versatile forward minimum

If you read the press, nobody seems to think Spurs are capable of challenging for the title.... understandable given the size of the squad, players lost to injuries etc..... BUT....

So Diamond everything after BUT is BS.

And why do you care about the press so much? Were you looking for some mug journo to bleat "Spurs can win the league..."

Come on. Give your head a wobble.

Spurs are much better than i thought they would be. However, your squad is not strong enough and, as it is inevitable that you will get injuries, in my view you won't challenge for the title THIS season.

Having said all that, invest in the Summer (Jan window won't allow for a bedding in period) then who knows.

Think you will end up 4th with the top 6 as follows;

Man C
Arsenal
Liverpool
Spurs
Newcastle
Chelsea/ManU/Villa/Brighton

I'm not sure we will actually do anything of note in Jan but I can see the argument that our squad probably isn't big enough, even with only 1 game a week to be anything more than challenging for top 4.

with that said, i think we are probably only 2 or 3 quality players from having a really good squad. Being realistic I guess that could be achieved over the next 2 windows with next season being more realistic.

My point was with United & Chelsea a mess, Newcastle maybe not having the squad capable of a PL & CL run, and I wonder if City might have a bit of a drop off after last season's achievements (it happened to Liverpool after almost winning the quad).... There's a massive opportunity for Spurs.... question is... will we really go for it ?

I agree. I rather not ruin my enjoyment of how we are playing at moment by expecting us to challenge for the title. Rather just enjoy it one game at a time.

Squad is not strong enough but we only play one game a week. We play 3 games a week twice in Dec. With good management, the risk of injuries can be limited, especially on matchdays.

See Ange subbing Son and Maddison off regulary and making use of 5 subs quite often.

We also have to face ten of the of the top 14 teams(think Woolwich have to as well). Our fixtures have been kind. We have faced the bottom 4 already.

Remember clowns like Sandy and morespurs probably saying our fixtures were hard. Caaaants.

Looks like Perisic is off in Jan, even though he is injured so you would hope we will sign another forward.

Way too optimistic for Arsenal

Liverpool will be behind City
and then it is all up in the air.

Liverpool lost to us and that is a tesimony to our string backbone that we snatch a victory from a draw agains them but they are a good side and in my view, will come good even more so as the season progresses.

Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea (all London clubs) will be fighting for the CL places. Chelsea will be very strong now that they have found their rhythm.

Possibility of Hobby leaving too so I doubt he will be used as he is being chased by couple of teams.

Sarr and Bissouma will be off the AFCON. They will miss two or three games depending on how well their teams do. Our last game in Jan is against Brentford.

Could sell him on deadline day depending on a replacement and finding him a club.
