No, I'm not on the wum, or,indeed, tiresome, bearing in mind that you don't have to read any of it.
What inspiration means differs person to person, but to me it means desiring to be similar.
So for me no war films qualify.
An ordinary person triumphing over difficult odds is what it means to me.
Nearly every film mentioned doesn't fit that definition.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I dont HAVE to read it but I did because it was directed at my comment on a thread that I was contributing to. So you dont agree with my films. But you dont HAVE to comment back in a sarcy way that you think they arent inspirational to you. I dont even know what you mean by desiring to be similar. I dontunderstand by your two retorts to me. Please explain.

I was thinking in most peoples lifetime
Yeah, so long as your older than 5

If you ever get to watch either 1917, The Darkest Hour, or Dunkirk they are all films about people triumphing over difficult odds. So they all come under your own definition. So I advise you to watch them. And Im not the only person who mentioned them either.

Just watched it again, without doubt the best bit of TV I've ever seen.

Remember that night well, I was literally about to go the pub but I thought I'd give it 10 minutes.

Never left the couch all night, I was totally overawed.

Funnily enough only today I listened to 'Caliban's Dream' by Underworld for the first time in a while.

It's from the London Olympics soundtrack and it's absolutely amazing.

That opening ceremony was something else.

…..

That would be because most people’s definition of inspirational is as narrow as yours.

Desiring to be similar.
I mean a film that has a person doing /achieving something admirable that I would hope I could in similar circumstances. As I have an ordinary life it needs to be based on a life similar.
I didn't mean to be sarcastic , it was an acknowledgement I was wrong about those three film dates.
I think of you as a top notch poster , so sorry if I offended.

It is in a weird kinda way.

Most people were glad that the anti-hero reverted to being a violent thug after violent state intervention failed.

Not in the sense of your OP or any traditional way but perhaps inspirational as a genre and the changes the movie allowed?

Bit of a reach from me to be honest?

Now that's how I should have articulated it Cheers Boris

I'm not sure I've even seen Clockwork Orange all the way through.

I've read the book and remember being mildly irritated by the slang/'nadsat' language. Maybe I should give it another go and/or give the film a proper watch.

curious that posters seem to have spent a long time arguing that a clockwork orange is inspirational, but not mentioned paths of glory - which would come to my mind sooner than malcolm mcdowell and his giant c()ck sculpture/fast forward f()cking

Any film that closes with Singin' In The Rain has got to be both uplifting and inspirational.

I've read it and it was extremely hard going.

Made it easier to deal with 4za in later life though.

I think 4za wrote Riddley Walker.

I certainly think that's where 4Skins inspiration comes from.
