Off to a good start with his sartorial choices

Jeans. With a shirt and tie?

He’s definitely a candidate for letting his wife check him over before going out the door

It's worse - I suspect he's turned up for the signing all casual and the club have made him put the tie on knowing there'd be a meltdown otherwise. Wait until he sees what's in the contract small print!

Clement has at least a year to bed in. It's not his team, so...

He certainly needs time. He's got plenty to sort out with what's there at the moment, for a start....

He might be able to get more out of the current players than Beale did? if not will he have a wedge to buy his choices or did Beale spend a fair chunk of the available transfer budget?

posted on 16/10/23

I would guess that the question of transfers came up when he was talking to the the club. I'm sure he will be able to make signings though maybe not for huge fees.

I have no idea about his January budget but by then the league may be all but over regardless

Every new Manager we have appointed in the last 10 years or so the question on money to spend has come up.

The reality is every one of them has been backed and backed well. I don't think any of them have come out after and complained about lack of funds or support, with the exception perhaps of Gerrard who wanted to push it further again after winning the league.

Think we will see a similar pattern here but more likely next summer rather than January. I'd still say there's potential to get more out the current group than they have shown however, at least domestically.

Mental when you think Danilo, Dressers and Lammers? Cost over £10M. Mental.

I think Danilo has shown he has 'something' and Beale's unfathomable style and tactics maybe made life difficult for him whereas the other two would struggle to get game time at Ross County on their form this season.

Yeah I think Danilo will be fine. Argument as to whether or not the outlay will justify what he gives us but I can see him scoring goals for us and he's young enough to improve and go up a few gears.

Dessers maybe with a different way of playing we might get more from him but never as a lone striker that requires him to do a lot of pressing.

Lammers is a 5s player. Very good technically but doesn't do it in games and not sure where his best position is. Limited final product. Would be the first I'd move on.

Agree that Danillo might not be a world beater but he looks like he will be a threat when played through the middle.

Dessers is supposedly a confidence player. Not really sure I care how good he gets when his confidence is up because the version we have seen of him is so incredibly inept. Rangers cannot afford to carry players who are that bad even if there is a chance that at some point he will have a hot couple of months and bang in 10 goals.

Lammers - lovely footballer at times but pretty useless if you actually want to score goals and win matches.

Dessers and Lammers are what got Beale the sack more than anything. That and all the sheidt he talked in press conferences. Oh and his complete inability to implement any semi recognisable playing style that was effective in beating anyone other than Livvy.

But apart from all that he can consider himself unlucky.

Would punt Dessers first. Roofe, Danilo and Lammers as options. Roofe still first choice when fit.

Sure we’ll need to sell, but very little value left in squad, never mind that we’d want to sell. Davies likely get 3m or so for, but doesn’t sound like the teams interested would match the wage he’s on with us. Matondo likely get a couple/few million for, wages an issue again though.

Agree re Dessers so far but he must have something more. I personally think he looks like he would be better suited to a 2 up front target man type role with someone mobile running around him.

I'm not making comparisons here but if I think back to the various Rangers strikers over the years, there are a number of good ones who would look just as poor as he has if used the same way. Mark Hately for example in this team doing the same role would look just as bad but he was one of the best centre forwards we have had in my lifetime.

Not saying Dessers is as good, I'm just keen to see him used differently before we completely write him off.

Even that was Livvy lying down. Five fouls

Dessers had shown absolutely nothing. Lammers has excuse of being played out of position. Danilo had very little actual time, too little to judge. Roofe clearly still a very good option, likely ahead of all when fit.

posted on 16/10/23

Lammers has been played in every position so far across the front and just behind. He's a technically good player without question but there's no end product and what we have seen so far is in line with his career numbers and progress to date.

Dessers I agree has shown nothing but I'd be interested to see him in a different set up. Unlike Lammers he does have a track record but its never going to work playing someone of his style in the set up we have had.

In Dessers case he just seems to be so incredibly lacking in the fundamentals of the game its hard to see where a player can emerge.

He has no pace, his general mobility is poor, his first touch is awful, his ball retention and link up play has been painful to witness and he seems more concerned with trying to win cheap fouls from defenders rather than actually winning the ball.

And all that is before you even begin to talk about his finishing.

And the fact he has so quickly robbed Sakala of his title as the most offside player ever to play for Rangers.

I think he is an average player who has probably had a couple of hot spells where he looked good. And I think that the expectation of being the main man at a club like Rangers playing in front of 50k people has destroyed him. He is trying too hard and he is playing the game in his head - no player is ever going to be at his best in those circumstances.

That said it is going to take the mother of all turn arounds for Dessers to convince the Rangers fans he is anything more than a very expensive mistake.

I wont be holding my breath for that one.

To be honest not 1 rangers no9 comes close to being this bad
I can see Billy Urquhart Kevin Kyle Martin Henderson and they would all play the role better
The remark about Hately is mind blowing

I’d genuinely prefer Zak Rudden to Dessers.
